Cervical Ectropion spotting or something else?

Hello.

Has anyone got any experience with cervical ectropion and pregnancy spotting? I'm only 4w4d and today I had some pink bleeding/discharge after a bowel movement. I quite often get a lot of red bleeding the week before my period starts during bowel movements and I had loads of tests in the past and they said it was due to cervical ectropion. I'm wondering (hoping) if it's that that's caused the spotting today as obviously I'm now worried (had an early loss years ago also). I took another test and even though it was mid afternoon the line was darker than the control and I still have sore boobs so I'm hoping it was just the ectropion that caused it. The ectropion has never caused me any issues though other than bleeding bowel movements and occasionally sex. But now I'm a bit worried about it during pregnancy as I never thought about what issues it might cause it before!

Hey, yeah I had spotting in my 1st pregnancy on and off until about 16 weeks and again in this pregnancy (currently 15 weeks)

I only found out I had cervical ectropion when I was 16 weeks with my 1st as they didn't do a speculum check until then.
I had bleeding after bowel movements, sex, long walks (basically anything that caused movement in that area)

I was always told with any bleeding to contact your midwife so they can keep an eye on you (more for infection monitoring/documenting than anything)
But cervical ectropion isn't dangerous in pregnancy and isn't linked to pre term birth or miscarriage so don't worry about it causing problems in that way. It's more of a pain as during pregnancy you don't want to see blood but it's likely to happen a few times especially early on as your hormones and cervix change to support your baby.

Mention it to your midwife incase they want to do some swabs (mine did just to rule out infections) but from my experience nothing came of it and just one of them irritating things that crop up occasionally.

Best of luck 😀

I have cervical ectropian and I saw very light pink in my discharge at 4 weeks, very light and I made a GP appointment and they called me in that or the next day. Im now 25 weeks pregnant and I'm healthy and so is my baby. Check with the doctor though. She will check your stomach to see if you have an ectopic pregnancy and ask you other questions. Don't worry too much. You must get checked though!! Also just to let you know I have not had any more bleeding since at all.
