As above. It was marinated chilli lime chicken slices. The package was sealed and I opened at lunch and ate and thought it said 10 Feb but just realised it says 1st of Feb:-( I'm 29 weeks. Any advice/experience?

nothing you can do but hope for the best. The smaller the pieces were cut, the bigger the risk. But 36 hours is not miles outside the safe zone.... good luck

You will be fine. Its already been in vac pac for several weeks. Its not going to go off in 48 hours if it hasn't been opened. Trust me, chicken that is off will stink horribly too.

Don't panic at all. It's bound to be fine. The dates have to take into account a bit of leeway/fridge temperature etc

Sawa75 · 03/02/2023 17:34

The problem is that it was marinated with chili lime so I dunno if you'd know if it smelt off. But it tasted fine. Thanks for the replies

Breathe mama. If the chicken was bad, your body is likely to react aka throwing up or coming out the other end. I wouldn't worry if you show no signs of feeling unwell.

Actually woke up feeling abit queasy. I've been so so careful with food hygiene/choices, this was a momentary lack of judgement. Devastated at the thought of giving my baby disability or stillbirth from listeria etc. Hopefully it will be ok

If the chicken was bad you wouldn’t be feeling a bit queasy, you’d most likely be taking a trip to A&E!! Please don’t worry, you would definitely know it was off, chilli or no chilli.

Changingplace · 04/02/2023 09:22

Don’t worry, you’d have known immediately if the chicken was off, I think you’ll be fine. If you’d bought it from a butchers not a supermarket you’d have no date to go on so if it tasted/smelled fine I think it will be.

gemloving · 04/02/2023 09:45

Could the queasiness stem from your anxiety? Have you have a fever? 38+ degrees? Diarrhoea? And really feeling unwell? If so, you should go to A&E.

Angelik · 04/02/2023 10:08

Think you need help with your anxiety. You can't live like this especially when your baby is born. Kids are super gross. They will lick shoes, eat dirt, get wee/poo all over themselves. And will be fine. But they will learn how to react from you. Also, you don't want to be like this forever more

alwaysonadiet1 · 05/02/2023 15:55

I hope you're feeling ok OP?
