I didn't think we weren't allowed nuts, I know you shouldn't have too many if you have a history of food allergies but otherwise thought it was ok, i cna't wait until christmas,I;m 27 weeks now so will be 30 weeks, haven't had heartburn yet so hope it will stay away until after, I'm going to stuff my face and not worry about fiting into a little black number for New years eve like most years, I love christmas and even though I can't wait to spen it with new baby next year this is my last christmas as a baby so I;m going to be pampered and enjoy myself, this is also our first christmas in out house as a married couple so I've already turned it into santas grotto, I'm doing my parents house next!

This will be my third Christmas of being pregnant, and my 5th in a row of not being able to drink properly! Haven't had a non-sober Xmas/New Year since the milennium due to pregnancy and breastfeeding. Roll on 2006 when I shouldn't be doing either!

Nuts:

there is absolutely no scientific evidence to suggest that allergies can be picked up either in utero or throguh breast feeding.

There is a hypothesis that in families where allergies are prevalent that this could possibly be the case but this has not been proven and there are far more plausible hypotheses around.

Personally I have just stocked up on Brazil nuts and I'm looking forward to guilt free indulgence . Nuts are full of vitamins etc and are very good for you apart from the calories!!!

I've been eating smoke salmon all the way through the pregnancy. Hope it is OK! Not so sure about caviar though as it îsn't treated at all is it?

And I think nuts are fine aren't they? except peanuts if you or your family have allergies. Actually i thought nuts were supposed to be very good for you and one of the things you should eat lots of.

The worst thing for me, not just for christmas but for the whole of the winter is NO SNOWBOARDING!!!! I live in switzerland and usually spend at least one day most weekends of the whole season snowboarding, so this is a huge sacrifice! ....uuuuuurgh! I don't even want to start thinking about it!

MommyD · 08/12/2004 14:53

I eat smoked salmon when pregnant!! I don't eat peanuts, but would eat other nuts - can't stay away from cashews and pistachios. Can anyone give me a (really) good reason why I can't eat those two sorts of nuts????
I will definitely have a glass of champers to celebrate.
This will be my FOURTH Christmas in a row of not over-indulging:
2001 Pregnant ds1
2002 Pregnant ds2
2003 b/f ds2
2004 Pregnant baby#3. Baby due end July so Christmas 2005 will probably be b/f too!!!! Yikes.... I HAVE to be a pro at working out what I can and can't eat, and stretching those limits - otherwise Christmas would come to mean serious UNDER-INDULGENCE!
Roll on 2006.... GrinBTW - I love being pg at Christmas!

MommyD · 08/12/2004 14:56

snap...PamiNativity..... (almost) Grin Roll on 2006 GrinGrinGrinGrin

Unless you are nut allergic yourself there is no reason not to eat nuts. Even peanuts are considered fine unless you have a close family history of allergies.

Every single one of my babes has involved me being preg over xmas, last Dec I was 9 weeks preg with dd4 and spent the entire xmas with my head down the toilet!! Xmas day dinner was 2 cream crackers! Worth every moment though.
