Twins and terrified

Hi everyone,

Had a private scan today at 8+2 and measuring 7+1 (which is what I suspected as I ovulated on CD 22). Found out I am carrying DCDA twins. Both had good heartbeats and same growth.

Since the scan I have been panicking about vanishing twin syndrome, I don't know how to cope with the worry and anxiety. Anyone been through this and got any tips or advice?

Congratulations, I think if it was me I’d book a scan for 10 weeks to check they are still both ok and growing nicely

Thank you for your reply, clearly we think alike as the first thing I did was book another scan for the 20th February when I should be 9+6. My biggest fear is there will only be 1 baby there!

congratulations! I have twins. I didn’t give vanishing twin syndrome or any other serious problems much headspace, though I was aware of them. I made a decision to think only positively and imagine them growing nicely in there. I hope all goes well. 💐

Never contemplated that, just TTTTS which isn't applicable with DCDA twins. It's also the type of twin with generally the lowest risk.
Mine are MCDA, just turned 3, came at 36 weeks just under 7lb EACH and utterly perfect, apart from being 3 year olds 🙄🙄

The numbers are on your side

Congratulations.

I have recently had DCDA twins and found out at 10 weeks. I did initially have the same fear however I decided to focus on the positive side and tried not to worry.

Please don't stress and hope all goes well at next scan

Is there any update here? I found at this week at 6+3 I am having twins. They said the egg had split but looks like there are 2 placentas and are currently measuring similar in size.
after googling twins I am now absolutely freaking out about vanishing twin. The thought of going in a few weeks to be told one has disappeared is giving me massive anxiety.

Hi, I'm the OP and so far all is looking great with the twins. I was so scared of vanishing twin that I have ended up having 6 scans already...I'm currently 15+3 and everything is exactly as it should be. The worry is awful but the chances are more likely that everything will be fine. Good luck and congratulations x

@xprincessxjanetx thank you so much for the update and I am so pleased for you that everything is going well! Amazing news!! That’s exactly how I feel that I just want a scan a week to check on them but I know I just have to wait. The wait is the worst bit. Feels like my stomach is in my throat. I’ve just read so many vanishing twin stories that it made me think it’s more common than I realised. I feel more fear than joy at the minute. The wait is torture. Thank you so much for replying x
