Maternity Clothes

Hi

I’m almost halfway through pregnancy and starting to get a bump. None of my clothes fit or are comfortable and I feel frumpy and gross in everything!

I’m hoping to buy a few nice maternity pieces that I can wear from now until the end of pregnancy / postpartum but can’t find anything nice or well fitting.

Has anyone bought any nice maternity clothes recently and can recommend where to look? Spring appropriate but could be worn now. Jeans, workwear, dresses etc?

I bought lots of dresses from eBay as there are lots available at a good price (and then ended up living in Primark leggings and a sweatshirt)

Dinosaurus86 · 02/02/2023 15:35

I found Seraphine fairly good and tried to get pieces that would also work for breastfeeding, as that was my plan. For me it was worth it because I grew out of my clothes very quickly - I definitely wasn’t one of those lucky people who have no bump until post 30 weeks!

Next time (if I can get pregnant again!) I’m going to get even more because one of the worst things about pregnancy was having nothing to wear. I’ve got some second hand on eBay too.

I tried to avoid buying maternity clothes and mostly went for normal clothes that had stretch in them so I could rewear after!

Things likes stretchy midi dresses
Stretchy ribbed midi skirts
Smock dresses
Oversized jumpers
Oversized t shirts

I would definitely buy maternity jeans or leggings though!

They’re all pretty dull tbh. Seraphine are ok, I’d recommend getting stuff that can be used for breastfeeding too if that’s your plan. Tiffany Rose is nice for special dresses but pricey. Maternity leggings: Love Leggings!

Oh yes totally will be living in leggings and jumpers too at home! My last pregnancy was in lockdown but now I have to go to work everyday and can’t wear leggings there, or I would! Good idea to look at eBay, Vinted etc.

Vinted! I bought lots of different pieces on vinted as they were a lot cheaper than buying new... I remember wanting Jean's with the support and they were 3 x I'd pay for a normal pair that I'd get loads of wear out of. You can also buy bundles on vinted which saves on the postage of shopping from different online retailers. I found no shops that held stock in store and were online only....nightmare

I bought a lovely denim maternity shirt from Next which I still wear now (nearly 2 years post-pregnancy!) As its not obvious it's maternity

This! I found H&M the best place for maternity jeans and then this time I bought some leggings from M&S. I've mostly just bought "oversized" items that I'll rewear again and again.

I've been buying from Boohoo and have loved everything. Got maternity jeans, leggings, dresses and jumpers, all really comfy 😁 x

Moosh18 · 02/02/2023 17:36

I get most of mine from h and m, Vinted have some good dresses! X

QueenOfWeeds · 02/02/2023 17:41

I have some nice pieces from Seraphine, but I am underwhelmed by the quality, and haven’t had the best customer service from them. I also found their sizing a bit off. I invested in one of their 3 in 1 coats, and 2 nice dresses early on because we had a summer of weddings (typical) and I figured I could wear them this coming summer to feed in, if necessary.

Work wise, I also went for larger sized “normal” clothes, with maternity tights (H&M were the best fit for me, even though I can’t stand their regular tights) and a nice soft nursing bra from about 28 weeks. Oh, and some easy slip on shoes (Skechers or something similar with a decent stretch to them).

Yourteaisgettingcold · 02/02/2023 17:43

I've bought all mine from Vinted. There are a lot of new items being sold as well as a lot of second hand stuff that's barely been worn.

PenguinX · 02/02/2023 18:15

I've bought maternity jeans and leggings off vinted but maternity tops make me look ridiculous so I've just been wearing big baggy jumpers mainly. 39 weeks now and bought a size 8 jumper from Sainsbury's last week which fits perfectly. Just depends on the style

Moni81 · 05/02/2023 23:46

Apart of outwear, lingerie and shoes I buy all my clothes on shein. Ordered some maternity leggings and trousers recently and I'm very happy, good quality, fit well and can't go wrong with prices.

ScrantonDunderMifflin · 06/02/2023 06:41

H&M has amazing maternity jeans.
NEXT has really nice leggings.
Also, ASDA stuff is meant to be good 😊 x

Meganlp · 06/02/2023 06:59

I’m 26 weeks now but was having the same issues around 20 weeks.
I found ASOS jeans the best, and got a few bits from H&M.
I splurged on a bumpsuit and it’s the best thing I bought, it’s unbelievable comfortable and I’ve been dressing it up with blazers and smart jackets when wearing it for smarter occasions, pricey but worth it.

I got maternity jeans from JoJo Bebe and H&M. I bought them around 14wks, just because I had the chance when I was in the shops. I'm now 20wks and honestly can't imagine ever wearing normal jeans again. I'm 35 and this is baby #1. I also got some classic maternity t-shirts from h&m, (long and short sleeved) and they're super comfy and make for a classic look of t-shirt and jeans, it's always a winner!
