Help! Just found out I'm pregnant with dc2... Me and DP have spoken about having another but not until after I've finished my studies. I will be finished in May next year but this baby will be due in October, almost exactly two weeks after I start my first year back...this is my dissertation year...

So I guess my question is, has anyone found themselves in a similar situation and has any advice?

This baby is very much wanted and DP will be ecstatic but I can only imagine how stressful next year will be!

Congratulations! As to university, speak first to the students' union; they will have experience of this situation and will be able to advise you and signpost you to whatever help and support is available.

My university allowed me to take a years leave when DD was born, would that be an option? If your lucky they'll also let you settle your dissertation topic before you go, so you can do some reading while on leave to keep your eye in.

Congratulations! I work for a university, few things I can think of: most universities will have a process for submitting a request for extensions for coursework based on personal extenuating circumstances, you will be able to submit this - you can speak to whatever the student support department is called at your uni.

When you a bit further along in the pregnancy you might also want to speak to your programme leader/personal tutor. You may be able to defer your final year, or the will be able to discuss options with them.
