Hi Everyone, I am trying for a baby atm. This month was our first month trying and I am completely overwhelmed. I am adopted, so I feel I have an added worry, as mum and dad could not naturally concieve, as dad had a low sperm count. I have become a little paranoid and just want everything to be normal. I am 34, healthy and fit.

Before this month, I had no idea what a luethal phase was. This month I took my ovulation tests daily. On day 16, 17 and 18 I got a flashing smiley for high fertility. I got a solid smiley for high fertility on day 19 at 7am. Q1. Is my day of ovulation day 19 or the day after day 20? My period came on day 31. Q2. Does that make my luethal phase 11 days or does the day it arrives count as 12th day. Basically wondering how long is my LP?

Based off of my own calculations, I think ovulation is day 20 (day after positive ovulation test). It says online any day up to day 21 is normal, wish I had been more in the middle.I think my luethal phase is 11 days, most places say anythihg from 10 and above is normal. Again I wish I was more in the middle.

I keep getting mixed information about the luethal phase. Most sources say that 10 or 11 days if fine. Others that it is classed as a short luethal phase. How information can differ on medical sites it beyond me!

Could anyone with any experience help me to understand this better? It is a minefield and I feel very lost in it. Have people with a 10/11 day LP got successfully pregnant? Did it take much longer?

I look forward to hearing from ye.

Thanks

most people tend to ovulate the day after a positive opk and the the day after ovulation is 1dpo so if your period started CD31 then your cycle ended CD30 which would make you Luteal phase 10 days.

This should be ok as long as you fully implant 10dpo or before which is possible. My LP is 12 days by I spot from 9dpo but this cycle I didn’t spot and am now 11weeks pregnant so I must have implanted before 9dpo or I would have started to spot. I got pregnant twice more in the 2 cycles before this too but both ended up chemicals but I did have some spotting so don’t think I implanted early enough for my body. I think I need to implant before I spot to be successful.

good luck 😊 it’s very possible to implant before 10dpo.

Hi OP, didn't want to read and run. I was very concerned about my short luteal phase while trying to conceive - 8 or 9 days. I'm now 14 weeks pregnant and pretty sure implantation happened 8 days after ovulation, so that must have been destined to be a 9 day LP that cycle. Very possible to get pregnant with a 10 day luteal phase, so do try not to worry.

Mine is about 10 days too which worried me when TTC, but I have a 1yo now! I think I read vitamin c can help it so I took supplements.

My luteal phase is 7-8 days generally. I didn’t actually realise this until ttc #1 and panicked thinking it would never happen. Tried all sorts of things to lengthen it but never got it more than 9 days. I have however conceived 3 children with very little difficulty so it hasn’t proven to be a problem for me.

I had a short luteal phase too. Never longer than 9 days and frequently shorter. I had acupuncture and conceived the first month I tried acupuncture (obviously may have been coincidence!). Second pregnancy, I didn’t have acupuncture and conceived within a few months. Not trying to sound smug here, just wanted to tell you not to panic.

Recommend using BBT to monitor your cycle in addition to the ovulation tests as it helps you get a clearer idea of when you ovulate. It might take a few cycles to see a pattern. Have you recently come off contraception? My cycles took a while to settle after coil removal and I had a 9-10 luteal phase for the first few months. I then had one month when I ovulated later than normal and had a 2 week luteal phase and that’s when I conceived DD. Good luck!

Mine is 9-10 days and I’ve had four pregnancies. Each one conceived within 1-7 months.

This is very interesting. In a similar both. 10 days is considered normal.
