Hi all due July 2023 and recently found out at bang on 16 weeks I'm expecting a girl! Well, probably - I know sex scans etc aren't perfect and aren't always 100% accurate! It's made me way more excited to be able to refer to 'she' rather than 'it' though I'd have been fine with a boy too! It's a relief as I wasn't feeling that connected to the baby yet. Has anyone else found out the sex recently?

Congratulations! I also just found out I’m having a girl after my 20 week scan and it made me feel a lot more connected to the baby and the pregnancy as a whole. Made me feel a little bit more confident that it was actually going to happen and I was worried to get too attached to the imagine of a boy/girl and then ‘miss’ the version of that baby I didn’t have - no idea if that makes any sense.

Ahh yay congratulations to you too! Haha it totally makes sense I had the same feeling exactly!

I found out with all of mine. Couldn’t be ATAR’s with coming up with 2 name choices, boy/girl, so finding out cut down on time taken to think of/agree on a name.

HoppingPavlova · 01/02/2023 12:52

No idea what that was. I typed ‘arsed’ but it autocorrected to something ????

Yes! We found out 3 weeks ago at 17 weeks we're having a boy. We could have found out at 10 weeks with the nipt test but my husband initially wanted it to be a surprise at birth and I didn't mind either way so we chose not to. We just both ended up getting more and more curious though and booked a private scan in the end and so glad we did. We had both a girl and a boy name picked out (this is our first baby) and its so nice now being able to refer to him by name (although we're keeping that to ourselves until he's born). It makes him feel more like a real person. Also it's nice being able to look at all the cute baby boy clothes, the unisex ones all seem to be a bit boring white and grey.

@HoppingPavlova i thought it was a mumsnet acronym I didn’t know 😂😂 agree names are hard. At least this is cut them down by about 50%

I find out on Saturday. I'm excited to know, but l don't think it'll necessarily make me more 'excited' just yet. I had a mmc back in August so I'm constantly worrying and trying not to get too excited about it all just in case.

BurbageBrook · 01/02/2023 17:05

@rach971 ahh that's totally understandable if you've had losses for the excitement not to kick in yet or maybe even until baby is safely here.

@Kelvie103 aww yes it's so nice being able to call them by their name! We already had a girl name picked out and we were really not sure about boy names so it's lovely that we can use a name or 'she' rather than it, even if it is still relatively early days Smile

Aww many congratulations, OP. I found out with both of my two, too.

I found out the sex of my little one recently - I'm due in June. I'm having another little boy and am literally over the moon (would have been happy with either sex) and happy I can now say to my little boy (he's only 13 months) that's he's going to have a little brother. For me it makes it feel more 'real'

Congratulations btw

Wonderful news, I had my two boys close together, been an amazing journey, they are best friends, as well as brothers. Many congratulations Flowers
