Preg with twins, when to tell everyone?

I've tried searching this topic already on here but couldn't find much.

I'm 10 weeks pregnant with twins, really excited, but after a MMC in Sept, I'm also quite nervous and eager to get to the 12 week milestone.

Due to what has happened previously and generally with twins being a higher risk pregnancy and birthing experience than with one baby, what is the best timeframe to tell people? I personally would like to wait until the 12 week mark, but should I wait longer 16 weeks? 20 weeks? I'm just so nervous.

You can always tell close family earlier than everyone else. You might start showing earlier than 20 weeks.

Fantastic news! I'm a twin mum and it's bloody brilliant

I'd had several losses so told extended family at 12 weeks, extended social circle (via social media) at 24 weeks when I was at a stage where if they were born doctors would try to save them

I had a very visible bump (and in maternity wear) from 9/10 weeks so anyone I met in person I had to tell so that was close family, boss and colleagues etc which was earlier than I would have liked but I couldn't hide the bump!

I'm 27w with twins.
We told our parents at about 8 weeks when we found out it was twins (v shocked!)
then told friends and rest of family at 12 weeks, never announced on social media or anything.
I got a bump at 18 weeks, couldn't have hidden it by 20 weeks.
At 27w I definitely look further along than I am, but I dont think I look massive!

Everyones different whatever your comfortable with! If you know ud get support if anything was untoward after 12 weeks then tell whoever? I always think telling wnt change what ever happens and i have supportive family n friends.

I'm 22 weeks tomorrow, found out it was twins at 9 weeks, and only told most people other than family and work a couple of weeks ago.
I have an undeniable bump now so couldn't exactly hide it much longer.
But I only waited because things in life were happening, and it didn't seem the right time. Otherwise id have probably done it after 12 week scan

When did people get their twin bumps? I’m only 10 weeks and not showing

Nadinya · 28/02/2023 12:32

I'm now 23 weeks with twins. Told close family at 4 weeks of my pregnancy and at 8 weeks that it was twins.
I'm rather large at the moment so I can imagine that the world can tell I'm pregnant at the moment.

@Lucy5yearsttc my bump sorta went from bloat to baby at around 16/17 weeks and proper baby around 20 weeks

Lucy5yearsttc · 28/02/2023 13:59

@Nadinya ok that’s reassuring as I just feel like they’re not growing ☹️ have my scan Monday so fingers crossed all ok

I have twins and by 16 weeks I was at that stage when people would guess I was pregnant but be too polite to ask! Seemed to rapidly grow from 14-16 weeks ish. By 20 weeks I was most definitely pregnant, and no hiding it at all. When people asked how many weeks I was, I would have to explain its twins as the looks I had when I said I was only 20 weeks etc!

I told close family and 2 friend's when I found out they were twins at an early 8 week scan. Then told everyone else at 12 weeks. But again my sickness was so bad everyone had guessed I was pregnant anyway!

Seaswimmings · 28/02/2023 23:02

I told close family and friends I was pregnant at 6 weeks, after consecutive losses I wanted people to know whichever way it went. Then after a good couple of early scans (and when we found out it was twins) we told a few more friends, and then wider family at 12 weeks.
I worried that my bump was too small for twins but at 20 weeks I absolutely ballooned and it's possible to hide which is when I was planning on telling people at work more widely anyway.
Now I'm 24 weeks and my stomach muscles have already separated to accommodate the babies!😐

Lucy5yearsttc · 01/03/2023 18:22

@Donimo wow ok seems like I don’t need to worry yet then if only 10 weeks!

Lucy5yearsttc · 01/03/2023 18:22

@Seaswimmings sounds scary but hopefully all normal?
