Help- 13 weeks and bleeding

Hi, first time posting here.

I’m stressing out … about 13 weeks and just started bleeding (red spotting yesterday now bit more but brown). Went for 12 week scan last week and saw heartbeat and very active baby but couldn’t get any measurements due to tilted uterus and baby position. I’ve an appointment for 2nd attempt tomorrow, hospital are very keen to get NT measurement done as I’m 40 🙄. Now I’m thinking maybe something was wrong but they didn’t want to say.

I bled throughout my previous pregnancy and baby was fine so im trying to stay calm but it’s not working. DH says it’s unlikely anything wrong as heartbeat seen At 12 weeks. Has anyone has anything similar? Was it ok? Should I call anyone or just go for my scan tomorrow?

I had bleeding for about three weeks from around 11-14 weeks, mainly brown spotting that then got redder and some heavier bits. Baby was perfect at my 12 week scan and I had another scan at almost 14 weeks and they were still absolutely fine. That was earlier this week and in the last few days, it’s stopped completely (🤞🏼). Brown blood is generally accepted as nothing much to worry about - and even red doesn’t necessarily mean anything is wrong. I’m sure the hospital aren’t keeping anything from you but I know how your mind can go in to overdrive with something like this, mine certainly did.

I called EPU the day before my scan as I had a heavier bleed and they basically told me to just go to my scan as they wouldn’t be able to get me in until after that anyway but then to go up to them for some internal checks and swabs if I still felt I needed to after the scan. So no harm in calling if you feel you want to chat to someone medical - that’s what they’re there for.

hope all goes well tomorrow xx

Thank you, I’m glad to hear all was ok for you. It’s such a stressful time I wish I could just enjoy being pregnant 🤷🏻‍♀️

I think I’ll call EPU in the morning, they saw me at 7 weeks as had spotting, they know me from previous multiple mc so hopefully they won’t mind .

Oh I’m with you about wishing I could just enjoy it! A loss in my first ever pregnancy means I’m hyper anxious in pregnancy, it takes away any sort of blissful naivety, I think.

I hope all goes well tomorrow xx

Just to update, went for the scan and they saw baby moving a round with a heartbeat but still couldn’t get any measurements or find any reason for bleeding! They have given me a due date based on my dates which could be quite wrong as I have irregular cycle 🤷🏻‍♀️. I’m going for NIPT privately today to hopefully give some reassurance and find out if a wriggly boy or wriggly girl!

The sonographer tried to reassure me she couldn’t see anything unusual with the baby but in her 15 years she has never known 3 attempts at a dating scan to fail. Can’t say I’m feeling very reassured but it was good to see little one moving around in there 😊

Called the epu and they just said bleeding is normal in pregnancy, midwife says the same so I don’t know what else to really do about it!
