Sweep 38 weeks stories??

Hi had a sweep today due to medical reasons, I’m 38+2 the MW said I was 1cm dilated and had a soft cervix. I have since had dark red/brown discharge and cramp in my stomach and back and feel generally run down and so sick. And keep getting hot flushes. Anyone have any success stories???? X

The fact they were able to find and sweep your cervix at 38 weeks is a positive sign I think. Try and relax and best of luck.

Had one at 37 weeks for medical reasons. I'd already lost my plug/bloody show & was having lots of tightening prior so i think i was ready. Anyway i had by baby at 37 +3 (very, very quickly!)

Also do you have the need to poop? I was on the loo lots for the last 48hrs. Apparently a sign that your body is gearing up for labour.

Yep, had one at 1pm at 38+1, said I was 4cm already, waters were bulging and she could feel babies head. Said I would have baby that week. DS was born at 8.30am the following morning so not even 20 hours later.

abhhh wow that’s great. I was only 1cm so might have a bit of a wait. How did you feel after having it? I just feel a bit rough x.

Well tbh looking back I was having signs from the night before my sweep. I thought I was constipated but looking back I was going to the toilet as normal so it must have been the head pressing down. But I didn't actually go into labour or feel like I was in labour until 5.30am on the day DS was born.

Hi @Girl2020 I’m 38+3 and also had a sweep this afternoon. Doctor also said cervix was soft and 1cm dilated. Haven’t had any bleeding just a few cramps.

Hi everyone still nothing, had sex this am and a lot of brown discharge but feel normal again so prob not worked

I had a sweep at 39+2 after I'd had a show that morning. I was 2cm dilated. Had lots of discharge over the next few days and a few "leaks"
Went in for my induction at 39+5 and was STILL 2cm. They broke my waters after about 5 hours and had my baby about 5 hours after that.
Who knows how long I'd been waiting to go naturally though 😂

Had a sweep at 38+3 (Wednesday just gone) nothing at all really happened just felt bruised and achey from it. Lost brown and reddish blood from the sweep itself , then almost bang on the hour on Friday at exactly 48 hours after sweep my mucus plug came out in two massive globs (pretty grim) wasn’t expecting just how gross it was lol . Had some random BH I think since . Had a walk today to see if it gets anything going but sadly just back ache and really tired and grumpy now. Midwife could reach my cervix and said it was in the right position , was already 2cm when they did the sweep so positive is, it’s obv dialaited enough for my plug to come out that much.

I will let you know if anything progresses . If not I have an induction booked for Monday morning . Hoping for a natural birth with the drip cause it’s horrednous

@Girl2020 lost a bit of mucous plug today but no other real symptoms at all really 😩
just been for a 2 mile walk so hoping that helps.

How are you all getting on? Still nothing for me but I have my second sweep tomorrow I will be 38+6 x

@Girl2020 Hi, sorry I know it's an old post but just wanted to ask you: how did it go after your 2nd sweep?
I'm pregnant with my 3rd baby and had a sweep yesterday at 38 weeks+ 5 and not much us happening. Have 2 more sweeps booked for next week. Wondering if youd 1st sweep boosted the chances of the 2nd one?
