Increased movements

Hi ladies.

I know they say to worry about reduced movement but is increased movement something to worry about. Baby has literally not stopped moving since last night. Very fast and strong movements. It was that bad I wasn't able to sleep. I called midwife and they said to only worry about a decrease but I'm just not sure. This is not typical for him, normally he has a pattern of movement. He will move for 20 minutes then stop. So I'm just a bit concerned as it's been non stop. I'm worried he may be stressed.

I was reading up on this lately and it does say it can mean baby is distressed. Of course that doesn't mean it IS the case but I think it would definitely be worth getting checked x

I'm shocked your midwife said that OP! Deffo get checked. any difference in movement. As a PP said it can mean the baby is distressed, they may just be having a party in there but I'd get checked for peace of mind x

Yeah I'm already pretty anxious about the pregnancy. I guess I'd rather look stupid than something be wrong and not know.

Yes. The midwife seemed pretty confused when I asked her. I would normally be happy with lots of movement but it got to the point where I started to get worried. I haven't been able to sleep as it's been constant.

Hi OP. With my first pregnancy, I went in for increased movements and got checked over. The midwives were lovely and told me that I'd done the right thing. I think the advice is now any change in movements, as opposed to just a decrease. Hope all is well!
