Ectopic with no symptoms ?
Ding1 · 24/01/2023 21:09
Hi.
Had an early scan at nearly 6 weeks. Nothing could be seen in the womb. They thought miscarriage, but are also concerned about ectopic.
I had no bleeding or intense pain. Just some cramps yesterday. None today. The blood tests for hcg did not yet come out.
I'm quite scared as I don't know what I should pay attention to...
Any advice?
Thanks so much!

I'm going to be blunt . Get to A and E now . A ruptured ectopic is fatal at best you're alive but with zero fertility. . It nearly killed me despite being told I want in enough pain to be having an ectopic .
Ding1 · 24/01/2023 21:56
@piggypoole Thanks. Unfortunately with no pain and without conclusive blood tests, I think they would just send me.home...
Ding1 · 24/01/2023 21:57
So sorry for what you've been through. Can I ask what we're your symptoms?
Ding1 · 24/01/2023 22:00
They come and go on both sides. And sometimes move to the back. But most of the times I have no cramps at all.
piggypoole · 24/01/2023 22:01
Mine started off one side of my abdomen. I had reddish brown sporty blood loss . The pain and the blood loss began to get worse and worse . I strongly advise you to call your GP tommorow. If the pain gets worse tonight off to A and E . Please trust your instincts it's your life on the line here .

@piggypoole thank you so much. I will do so. 🤗 I really needed to have an opinion and share my concerns.
Sugaspunsista · 24/01/2023 22:04
With mine I had rusty brown blood loss ( not a lot) and shoulder tip pain.
Ding1 · 24/01/2023 22:07
Thank you @Sugaspunsista
Was the pain intense and continuous?
piliomachaon · 24/01/2023 22:33
I work in obstetric sonography. You do not need to go to A&E unless having very heavy bleeding or sudden excruciating pain. They won't do anything. Have you had a second scan scheduled? You should have. It's very common to not see anything at 6 weeks and it's standard practice to be told about the inability to rule out ectopic pregnancies. This doesn't mean you have one. There are several other clinical indicators. Plus very sharp sudden pain, shoulder tip pain, dizziness and sickness. It's very likely this is just your body beginning to miscarry. They should be re scanning you in 7 days as standard. The nurse will have discussed this all with you at your EPU appointment. If not, ring the EPAU department tomorrow morning for clarity.

@piliomachaon thank you, very helpful explanations. I need to get my blood tests first and I'm guessing after that they will decide on the second scan.
Sugaspunsista · 24/01/2023 23:17
The shoulder pain was continous but not agony.
I felt dizzy too but put that down to early pregnancy.
Mine ended up bursting and I lost my fallopian tube.
If you are in any pain at all or feel dizzy to and get seen
Ding1 · 24/01/2023 23:24
So sorry @Sugaspunsista it went that way for you. I will pay attention to any symptoms and hope it will be ok.

As someone who has had an ectopic pregnancy, I had none of these symptoms.
I occasionally had very mild twinges in my tummy. Could have been wind. No continuous pain anywhere.
Occasionally some very small amount of spotting.
My only continuous symptom was diarrhoea.

Wife had a symptom free ruptured ectopic, lost her ovary, tube and 500mls of blood in her abdomen. She had zero clinical features of ectopic and one of the rarest types: ovarian ectopic
Only symptom I guess she had was rising HCG but lower than expected for her weeks.
She also had faint urine positive test from the out set. Never a dark strong line. She Had the ectopic removed at 7w6d and diagnosed with severe endometriosis at the same time.
Trust your gut, she trusted her gut from the start and knew something was wrong. She was sadly right.

So sorry for your painful experiences. :( really hope they can figure it out as soon as possible. My first blood test came back at hcg 1141.
Ding1 · 25/01/2023 19:39
I had another hcg test and in 23h it went from 1141 to 1326... Also had a private scan and the doctor said she doesn't think it's ectopic, and a very small sac appears to have formed. So she inclined to think it is more likely an non-viable pregnancy rather than an ectopic. But she cannot exclude the ectopic either.
So fingers crossed... I will repeat hcg on Friday.
Thank you all for the replies.

Hi @ding my wife's bloods did the same as yours raised but not doubled in the right amount of time and also very low for 7 weeks. The wait is horrendous. Thinking of you. I hope you get your answers.
