Scan no embryo

Hello, I went for a private scan today and based on my last period date I am 6 weeks 6 days. The scan show the gestational sac and yolk but no embryo. They advised I must have miscalculated my dates and to come back in 2 weeks for another scan. I have a little boy who is 6 but I have suffered 2 miscarriages 2 years ago, the last one at 8weeks when the baby's heartbeat stopped.

I'm just wondering if anyone has experienced the same as me but went onto to see a fetus and heartbeat in a few weeks?

Many thanks

Yeah I did, I was actually dated at 5 weeks (could only see sac, no baby) when I thought I’d be 6 weeks. My son is 4 now. Fingers crossed for you x

Thank you very much for sharing, trying to stay positive so hearing success stories is really useful.

My mum experienced the same when pregnant with my sibling. 24yrs later sibling is still here and finishing up a university degree! Mum's dates were just a little off so Baby was too small to see.

Thanks for sharing, fingers crossed I'll be the same. I've been referred to the early pregnancy unit tomorrow so will hopefully know a bit more this week.

@Wolfemum hello, I hope you’re well. Would you mind me asking how you got on with your second scan? I’m in the same boat after a scan today xx

Hello, I am so sorry you're experiencing the not knowing. I ended up at the EPU where they managed to see a fetal pole and a week later a heart beat. Unfortunately I did end up misscarrying a few weeks later but this is to do with my high killer cells and nothing to do with not seeing a earlier fetal pole.

There is no point saying don't think about it because of course its all you can think about.
Can you be seen earlier at the EPU? In my 2 day wait they could detect the fetal pole, I think NICE recommend two week wait because it can take that long to see anything as dates can be incorrect.

Sending you lots of love x

Yes I experienced this.
look up “blighted ovum”.

The waiting is torture.
Hope it’s just miscalculation of dates for you.

@Wolfemum thank you so much for your reply and I’m so sorry you went through that 💕

Sorry I should have mentioned my appointment was with the EPU due to a previous mc and some cramping/aching.

Time will tell I guess! Thanks again xx
