Hi

I’m 18 weeks pregnant and have had brown discharge everyday for about 3 weeks now.
yesterday I had some pink spotting so phoned MAU, went in listened to heartbeat and checked my cervix and everything is ok. Today I was spotting actual blood so went back and they said to monitor it. If it happens again to go back.

has this happened to anyone else at all?

trying not to worry! X

Hi @pm94

Sorry to hear you’re having a stressful time. Is this your first pregnancy?

I haven’t experienced bleeding myself but my sister bled on and off throughout both of her pregnancies. She explained that it was like a light period like at times, with bright red blood. It was quite stressful for her and she had to go for lots of checks, but she now has two healthy daughters.

Thank you for replying! 😊

Yes this is my first pregnancy so all new to me.
Thats what mine was like today, as worrying as it is it’s reassuring to know all was ok for your sister too. X

Hey @pm94 I had brown / dusky pink spotting that started at 18 weeks and went on until 21 weeks, stopped, then had a red bleed, light but more than spotting. Have been to hospital a couple of times to get it checked and because I'm rhesus negative.

The cervix check found I had cervical ectropion which they attributed the bleeding to. Did they find anything on your examinations? I think it can just be 'one of those things' which isnt overly reassuring I appreciate! 24 weeks now and the spotting seems to have finally stopped 😊

Hi OP, I had this in my second pregnancy at 13 weeks, after my 12 week scan.

I passed a golf ball sized clot, and then bled on and off for around 3-4 weeks.

They did the same, checked heartbeat and cervix, said it was all they could do, monitor it etc. I paid for a private scan, and everything was fine.

I had questioned whether is was a sub-chronic hematoma, but it didn't seem to be that. And it remains unknown.

The bleeding eventually stopped at around 18 weeks, and the rest of the pregnancy was fine.

Hey, thanks for replying!
what a worry for you! im glad the rest of your pregnancy went ok 😊

I’ve never heard of a Subchorionic hematoma, just googled it and now it’s worried me 🤦🏼‍♀️
I have a private scan tomorrow too so hopefully will feel more reassured then too x

Hey thanks for replying!
sounds very similar to me and I’m rhesus negative too so had to have the Anti D.

all was ok with examination they found a small blood clot when I went in on Saturday so thought that could have caused the spotting but yesterday was blood so that made me nervous. Hospital said to see how it goes. I have a private scan tomorrow so that should reassure me.

glad yours finally settled down x

Hi OP. Bleeding in my pregnancy was caused by bv. I had no other symptoms at all but swabs confirmed bv, antibiotics taken and no other bleeding happened.

I had some bleeding at 20 weeks and it turned out I had thrush. I had no symptoms at all. It was quite a lot of bright red blood I would say it would have filled a sanitary pad. I had been asleep and woke up and felt a gush. It was really scary but they did a scan and a swab and it was thrush.
