10 week scan - hernia?

Hi everyone,

Husband and I had a 10 week scan today and hoping some of you might have advice from similar experiences. In plain language, the scan picked up on a little herniation in the foetus? I think what she was saying is that the connection from baby’s tummy to umbilical cord hadn’t closed fully? I was trying to take as much as I could in but naturally my mind went into overdrive so I think this is what she was saying. Has anyone had a similar experience or could shine a little light on it for me? Thanks

Hey, I had the same said in my 10 week scan but they said not to worry and that it usually resolves by itself. Had another scan 3 weeks later and it had gone :)

That’s reassuring to hear @Starling127. Thank you!

We've literally just been through this too! 11 week scan and had to come back in a weeks time to make sure it had closed up, which it had. From what I could gather from what they explained, all babies have hernias/aren't fully "closed" until roughly 12 weeks, so if you get scanned before you're 12 weeks there's a chance it might still be showing as a hernia. Sonographer wasn't worried though and was very insistent that we didn't worry and that in most cases it resolves itself, so hopefully it'll be the same for you 🤞
