Not felt baby move today, 27 weeks?

Purpletopaz42 · 21/01/2023 20:58

I'm 27 weeks pregnant, as of yesterday.

I've not felt the baby move today, so I'm a bit worried.

However, the baby hasn't established a regular movement routine yet, so it's hard to tell whether his movements have been normal prior to today or not.

Also, last week, he didn't move for a day and I'd decided I'd ring the midwife in the morning but in the morning, he was strongly kicking and moved regularly throughout the day.

Any advice appreciated, thank you.

“Why your baby's movements are important

If your baby is not well, they will not be as active as usual. This means less movement can be a sign of infection or another problem.

The sooner this is found out the better, so you and your baby can be given the right treatment and care.

This could save your baby's life.”

Always check. They will never be annoyed at you for checking!

Emmamoo89 · 21/01/2023 21:04

Definitely get checked

Starcircle · 21/01/2023 21:04

Yep get checked, always. There are always people getting checked up on maternity, it’s no hassle to staff. They’d much rather you were safe than sorry. In my case it saved my baby’s life. Wishing you and baby all the best!

mintich · 21/01/2023 21:05

Go and get checked. I was in and out with my first. Of course they always start moving as soon as you start getting checked!

MolkosTeenageAngst · 21/01/2023 21:05

If you get it checked out tonight, what’s the worst that could happen as a result?

Get it checked, if everything’s fine it’ll just be a few hours wasted but if not it could save your baby’s life.

This right away if you haven't already. Do not wait

MoleyAndGeorge · 21/01/2023 21:08

You need to get checked.

Im 25 weeks and had no movement a few days ago. They checked and all is fine, but they were very clear that I’d done the right thing.

rubygiz · 21/01/2023 21:09

Call the the hospital while you wait play loud music to your tummy that gets my little girl kicking away

justwantobeamum · 21/01/2023 21:41

I was always told drink something cold and sugary then lie down hand on belly and really pay attention and feel for any movement. If nothing within an hour phone Mat triage. Early on I didn’t feel movements every day but only you will know if you usually feel baby every day or not.

bologneseandbabies · 21/01/2023 22:07

Sugary drink and some deep breathing while laying down, in for 4 out for 6. Usually gets them going.

jodiekidd · 21/01/2023 22:08

Go and get checked out, don't delay!!

nocoolnamesleft · 21/01/2023 22:08

Please get checked out tonight. It isn't worth taking the chance.

Montague22 · 21/01/2023 22:10

Phone them
Drink a cold coke, or anything cold and sugary
Dont wait till the morning

Cuppasoupmonster · 21/01/2023 22:12

Please phone triage now, don’t wait until the morning.

PinkFizz1 · 21/01/2023 22:16

Echo everyone else, please call triage RIGHT NOW and get checked. Do not leave it any longer.

babynoname22 · 21/01/2023 22:19

Go to maternity triage. RIGHT NOW. It is most likely baby is fine but ALWAYS go get checked. They would rather you go 100 times and be ok than not go once and not be ok

Coffeellama · 21/01/2023 22:19

Go and get checked out right now OP

Purpletopaz42 · 22/01/2023 02:49

Just to update everyone, I went to the hospital and the baby is absolutely fine. They said the baby was moving but he was in an awkward position, which is why I couldn't feel it. Thanks everyone

@Purpletopaz42 I was in the same position as you yesterday evening. Not convinced I'd felt anything all day. Phoned in, went to assessment unit and all ok. I've got an anterior placenta so think baby just moved to where I couldn't feel it. Got a little telling off from the midwife for not phoning sooner. I didn't want to be one of those women phoning in lots but got the reassurance theyd much rather I did. Glad all was ok with you. I've thankfully felt some movements this morning.

rubygiz · 22/01/2023 08:39

Good news

jodiekidd · 22/01/2023 09:01

@Purpletopaz42

Great news!! You did the right thing. Always go if you are doubting movements. Once, twice, fifty times.
