Hi, just wondered if anyone else has been in this distressing situation?
im 38 and just over 13 weeks pregnant after a MC last year. We are over the moon but it’s been so stressful for me

At 7 weeks i had spotting so went for a private scan and everything was all good. Few days later I had a kidney size clot fall out of me and a gush of blood. Went for a scan and again everything was all
good. They couldn’t see any bleeding or where it came from and put it down to maybe SCH.

since then I have had on and off spotting only when wiping in the toilet, brown or very watery light pink . Mainly first thing in the morning.

Went for my 12 week scan and again everything is looking great. Strong heartbeat and measurements all fine. Could not see any bleeding.

after that I went and got my cervix checked and they took a swab. Everything was normal and fine then too

so in the past week on a few occasions on only my morning toilet visit I have a watery light pink wipe which goes away. So much anxiety when I go to the loo. Sometimes after BM or wee but always in morning. My mum had this for the first 3 months but I’m getting to the end of my 3 months and wondering why it hasn’t stopped

I’m getting no answers as to why this is happening . it always in the morning It’s all so draining. I myself have put it down to sensitive cervix but I just don’t feel I can enjoy this pregnancy which is a shame. I haven’t even told family or anyone else been through this? Just feel a bit fed up

No advice I’m afraid OP but sending a handhold - I’m also 13 weeks and have been spotting for the last three weeks or so. 12 week scan was perfect but it’s so worrying, isn’t it? They did identify either a cyst or an empty second sac at my scan but the sonographer didn’t really answer when I asked if that could be the cause and she said it should just reabsorb itself. I was thinking of calling the EPU for advice - I don’t have a midwife yet, the 20 week scan feels so far away, we’re going to get a 16 week sex scan and even that feels too far. I’ve had a MMC in the past so understand the anxiety around it all.
hope you’re ok, that it’s just one of those things and it stops soon 🤍

Hi Skyblue
thanks so much for replying. I’m waiting to have a 16 week scan too. Feels like time is going backwards.
I just cannot enjoy the pregnancy with the spotting. Really trying to remain positive but so hard.
hope we both have continued healthy pregnancies and healthy babies.

Hello, hope that you are ok!

I know all situations are different and hoping that all ends well for you, but thought id share my experience..

I started to spot at 6 weeks and was under the care of EPU from 6 weeks to 14 weeks due to spotting and bleeding, i seemed to bleed every two weeks and then spot for a couple of days surrounding the bleed.
I then bled at 16 weeks, 18 weeks and 19 weeks, just had another slight bleed last week at 24 weeks!

It terrifies me every time it happens; but for me all is ok so far and little girl is developing perfectly.
A cause for my bleeds have never been found, at my 8 weeks scan at EPU they found a pocket of blood in my uterus away from baby- this disappeared by 12 weeks so one of the bleeds may have been from that.

I have also just found out my placenta has moved from high to low and this could be another reason for my most recent bleed, but it scares me every time it happens.

My midwife told me that if i wasn’t bleeding on to a pad then not to be too worried; but always get checked out..
Also worth mentioning, any time i have bled after a wee i have had a UTI- don’t know if that is worth getting checked?

Hope that both your pregnancies continue safe and well, but i know the feeling of not enjoying pregnancy.. Anytime i wipe im examining for any colours/blood and if I get discharge im off to the loo to wipe 😬 xx

SkyBlue20 · 22/01/2023 01:49

Thanks @LauraA31 - I’m glad all is going well so far and hope it continues to for you ☺️

I’ve just had another slightly larger than spotting bleed and it was red this time. This is the third time it’s happened but first was brown and second a dark browny/red, this was more red than brown I’d say. Still only on wiping but a lot more than spotting. I’m going to call EPU in the morning. I just cannot believe that this pregnancy is going to stick, I really can’t, and this bleeding definitely isn’t helping. It’s so hard mentally, isn’t it?! 😢

Babydust84 · 22/01/2023 10:32

Thanks @LauraA31 for sharing your story. It’s really helped and super happy to hear your baby is doing perfectly well even whilst having bleeds .
I can completely relate you about the toilet paper checking and running to the loo to wipe anytime I have discharge. Nightmare!! X

@SkyBlue20 ah sorry to hear that’s happened. Easier said than done but please do not take your mind to the worst case scenario as you will stress yourself out for no reason.
your 12 week scan went well and chances of miscarriage are v v v v low. It could even be related to your placenta.
sometimes I also need to listen to my own advice!!
but do get an appointment with your EPU and keep us posted. It’s all very energy draining but Totally rooting for you and that everything will be fine X

I'm currently 36 weeks and had random spotting with bright red blood at 8, 10, 13, 25 and 26 weeks. They couldn't find the cause any time, but everything has continued to go well. I was very anxious each time as I didn't have any bleeding last time and still dread checking toilet paper now but nearly there! Hope everything continues to go well OP.

SkyBlue20 · 22/01/2023 13:42

Thanks @Babydust84! I’m at EPU now, been here for three hours waiting to see the doctor but I’m next soon hopefully will be in soon. They can’t do a scan today but will check my cervix and for infection etc. Interested to see if he thinks it could be related to the cyst/empty sac, too.

Babydust84 · 22/01/2023 22:25

@BabyB2022 thanks for sharing your story. So pleased everything is great with your pregnancy after bleeds. Nearly at the finish line !!

@SkyBlue20 hope everything went ok today and you got some answers

@Babydust84 I had my cervix and womb checked and all looked ok, had the swabs, too, but won’t get results for a few days. They booked me in for a scan on Wednesday, to see what’s going on with the cyst/sac and whether it could actually be a subchorionic haematoma (excuse that probably very terrible spelling), though the doc is inclined to think or probably isn’t.
So no answers but hopefully on the way to some, I mainly just want to know baby is ok now 😢 The bleeding has been worse than normal today but I expect that’s because of all of the poking around they did up there!

How’re you getting on? Is it showing any signs of tailing off yet? 🙏🏼

Babydust84 · 24/01/2023 09:41

@SkyBlue20 yes seems to be tailing off so praying this is the end!!
glad to hear the Checks were all ok and you have a scan! It will be a huge weight of your shoulders once you see baby wriggling around but it would also be great to get to the bottom of the bleeding but I know this isn’t always the case as I have been reading on here.

for now I am trying to focus on the 16 week scan which I am going to book next week !!

Glad it’s tailing off, what a relief! ☺️
Just been for my scan and all is good - sonographer said no sign of the cyst/second sac so it could be that that was causing the bleeding and also said that my placenta is quite close to my cervix at the mo, so as that grows there is bleeding (which is normal), which could just be escaping through my cervix. So nothing to worry about unless my placenta is still low at 32 weeks. It seems to be tailing off today (though it has done that before and then come back) so fingers crossed!

Babydust84 · 25/01/2023 17:28

@SkyBlue20 ah I am so pleased to hear that!!! 😊😊😊
Fingers crossed our spotting days are in the past!!! still nervous every time I have to go the loo so hoping that goes away with time too
