You don't go onto shared parental leave your partner if employed will go onto shared parental leave, yours stays as maternity allowance it just ends early. Once you've applied for maternity allowance you ring the government maternity allowance number and tell them you will be ending your leave early to give up time for your partner to take shared parental leave. They ask for the dates of their leave, how many weeks etc. Your partner will fill in shared parental leave forms from their employer.

Does it matter how many days a week you are going back to work for? (E.g. working a 3 or 4 day week) Will that affect the amount your partner gets paid?
