Hi ladies. I’m currently 10+4 weeks. I’ve just been to the toilet and had bright red/pinky blood when I wiped. Naturally I am extremely worried and don’t know what to do. I don’t have any cramps or pain or anything. my 12 week scan is on 30th January. Any reassurance, advice, guidance would be hugely appreciated. This is my first pregnancy.

I would contact the early pregnancy unit tomorrow morning and they should get you in quickly for a scan as the 30th Jan is a long time to wait if you’re bleeding. I hope everything is okay with your pregnancy, good luck.

I had this at ten weeks - bright red blood + a.biv clot. Had a scan at EPU and all was well, please call your EPU so they can reassure you ❤️

I had this at 10+4 weeks as well. Hadn't had any bleeding or spotting whatsoever prior to that. Woke up to bright red blood which turned brown throughout the course of the day and tailed off by evening. I immediately phoned the EPU on waking up and discovering the blood and they were quite dismissive, took forever (or so it felt) to call me back and told me they couldn't scan me for another 5 days. I managed to get an appt that day at a private scan clinic and everything was absolutely fine - no obvious cause for the bleeding. They did say that the EPU won't scan you because bleeding is so common and, unfortunately, if it is for sinister reasons, they can't do anything about it. However, they also said that the vast majority of private early scans are prompted by bleeding and, in the vast majority, absolutely nothing is wrong. Please try not to worry, easier said than done I know!

Firstly, bleeding in early pregnancy is common. However if you trawl MumsNet you will find 1000 good outcomes and 1000 not so good outcomes so I would recommend you call your EPU and see if they can scan you, in our area we have to go to GP and get a referral to EPU but some you don't. Both times I've called EPU I've. Even scanned within 2 days. Keeping everything crossed for you ❤️❤️

This is common in early pregnancy, if u have clots, cramping, soaked blood then thats a concern, if i read correctly u are not experiencing any cramps or pain then thats a good sign... I would call the doctors for reassurance as some people on mumsnet will get u thinking the worse outcome when it comes to giving advise in pregnancy and conception

Iamnothe1 · 20/01/2023 09:56

They normally tell u to wait for 12 weeks scan if u are not experiencing any symptoms but light bleeding as u are in early stages of pregnancy unless it becomes consistent and increases

very common apprently and very scary

epu basically sed wont scan nothing they can do if its starting miscarriage ring them back if become unwell or huge bleed

but even then they class miscarriage and to check with a preg test 2 weeks after
awful part of pregnancy
luckily mine never carried on but i was miserable for days

I had this at exactly the same gestation as you (10+4) and was horrified due to previous MC. Was lucky enough to get a private scan appointment the very next day which found everything to be fine (bleeding caused by small bruise on the womb).

In my case my spotting continued daily until 16 weeks which was incredibly stressful. One day it just stopped and I’m now 36+4.

if your EPU won’t get you a scan quickly, maybe see if you can get a private scan like I did? They are expensive but at that moment I was willing to do anything for reassurance!

I wish you all the best of luck and hope everything works out for you xx

I had this when I was 9W ish. Bright red blood the size of my palm out of no where.
We rushed to the hospital A&E and was seen after an hour wait. The doctor checked my pad and the bleeding seemed to stop (unlike period blood) so I was referred to EPU to have the scan next day because it was early Sunday morning then. At the scan, they found nothing that could explain the bleeding and I've had no more of that since then. I'm 31W at the moment.

Good luck to you OP!
