Scan pics & identifying info

I work in obstetric sonography and I cannot stress enough how reckless it is for people to continually post their scan photos online without blanking out their information. Several new posters recently have been adding their pictures to threads with their full name, date of birth, hospital number etc. These pictures also include the hospital you're being scanned at. Not only is this unsafe for yourself, but it's also unsafe for the for the antenatal team working with you. It takes one weirdo to decide to use your details for nefarious reasons, or to find you and harm you or your baby.

This is really basic level internet safety.

In what way exactly would someone be able to harm an expectant mother or antenatal staff using this information? Talk about an over reaction 🙄

@Tallulah28 If you think concern about posting your full name, birthday and hospital number on the internet is an over reaction then you're very silly indeed. Don't be so naive to think everyone on MN is here for innocent reasons. I can ring up any of these hospitals now and claim to be these women. I can get access to all their medical information. I can claim to have changed address when questioned and gain access to their current addresses very very easily. Clearly people who want to physically harm or abduct pregnant women would be delighted with the sharing of confidential information.

I'm with you on this OP. This is crazy and happens too often.
