Bleeding after intercourse 10 weeks pregnant

TMI post

Me and my partner had intercourse last night and this morning I've woken up with light bleeding and light cramping. I'm 10 weeks 4 days pregnant and I'm terrified. The past couple of days ive been absolutely fine and my pregnancy symptoms have progressed as normal so I'm 100% sure that it was the intercourse last night that's caused this. Has anyone else experienced this? My partner has to go to work today and I'm too scared to ring the EPU and go alone just in case I find out anything is wrong :(

Hiya, I’m having the exact same thing although I’m almost 7 weeks so earlier than you. I’m also terrified. I have spoken to a few friends this morning who reassured me they had this after sex in early pregnancy because the cervix is more sensitive. I’m waiting for docs to call back. Unfortunately I don’t think any amount of good stories will reassure me so I need medical opinion on it, but I definitely have had lots of people saying it’s normal. Have you had any earlier scans for this pregnancy? X

Oh no! Yeah I've heard it's normal but the stories are not reassuring me at all :(! Let me know what your doctor says! I hope everything's okay for the both of us! At this rate being so close to the 12 week park it's nerve wracking x

I’ll let you know for sure. I’m hoping they’ll call me soon but obviously never know what other issues they’re dealing with. Everything crossed for us both x

They are more likely to be able to tell you everything is normal. Bleeding isn't necessarily a sign something is wrong.

If you don't call them. Are you going to be worrying all the way to your scheduled scan?

Poppymil · 18/01/2023 09:25

I'd call the early pregnancy unit just for them to check but I had this happen to me and they basically said to wait until 12 weeks to have sex again, if you're worried though 100% call them x

Hiya, not really an update but my doc asked me to come in for a check because it’s not possible to say the cause of the bleeding without seeing me. I think it’ll be a weight off my mind to know either way to be honest. I’ll keep you posted x

HIya,
I have just come online to look for some guidance. I am 10 weeks pregnant and also bled after sex last night. I have stopped now but super anxious. I was just wondering how it turned out for you ladies? x

MamaCTa · 21/01/2023 16:57

Hi @missmezza I totally feel your anxiety. I had a check up which unfortunately confirmed the bleeding was coming from inside the pregnancy rather than outside cervix, but we also had a confirmation of heartbeat and good growth. I have a history of recurring miscarriages so he prescribed progesterone pessaries. I’m hoping and praying the spotting will stop soon. It’s the first pregnancy we’ve ever had a heartbeat so I’m holding onto hope for that reason. Have you got any appointments coming up? I’m sure if it stopped it’s just the blood vessels around the cervix- lots of my friends have said they had it after sex. Mine didn’t stop hence going to docs. I know that reassuring comments don’t always help in these situations so in my experience it’s always best to try and get a scan. Sending you lots of hope xx

@MamaCTa Thank you so much. It's a nightmare trying to get a GPs appointment where I am. But I've messaged my midwife. I've stopped bleeding now so I'm a little less worried, but time will tell. I don't have another appointment until my 12 week scan. I expect I'll be a nervous wreck until then!

So glad to hear you got some reassurance from the doctor and heard the heartbeat xx

MamaCTa · 21/01/2023 20:22

@missmezza hopefully the midwife will be able to reassure you. I know what it’s like to be freaking out and searching for something to tell you what’s happening. I’ve paid for a private scan This pregnancy as I know it’s the only thing that can really reassure me after my losses. I’ve basically become a nervous wreck! Really wishing everything to go well for you. I found it helpful to post on here and/or message people who seem to have experienced similar. Also a good balance of staying busy whilst allowing myself a controlled amount of time for googling! Best of luck, let us know how it goes xx
