Hi

Just wanted to chat to other pregnant Mums about their scans to see if I'm alone on this. My baby's abdominal circumference is 2weeks ahead of the rest of the body and it's weight 550grams at 22weeks. Should I be worried? Any feedback would be great as I'm a first time Mum.

My son's abdominal circumference placed my dates two weeks furthur along. The sonographer did comment on how big his tummy was, but also told us not to worry. It is a natural variation. It did affect his predicted birth weight though. They though he was going to be over 9lb, but he was born at term weighing 8lb 2oz. He is absolutely fine. He is a slim toddler, but does have quite a big tummy still.

Hope this puts your mind at ease a bit.

Thanks to you both. My Mum works in a Dr's surgery and she asked the midwife who said it was probably just a full bladder! I was worried that all the chinese food I was eating was making my baby fat but aparently this wouldn't affect it at all. (Good news for me, I'm addicted to chinese food!!) It's good to know also that what you said tutu100 about the estimated birth weight being less than expected. As a first time Mum the last thing I want to think about is this huge baby coming out of such a small place!!
