Brown Discharge 12 weeks

Hi, I am currently 12 weeks pregnant with my second baby, and two days ago after a bowel movement I noticed some dark brown discharge. After half an hour it was gone.

The following day I had a doctors appointment to check baby and to see if there was any obvious reason for the discharge. There was not, and baby was also okay!

Yesterday, I had the same situation. Has anybody else experienced this, or does anybody know why this could be.

Sorry for too much information but it seems to happen after a difficult bowel movement.

Thank you in advance.

I also experienced this at at 11+3 after bowel movements. I went for a scan and all was fine. They couldn’t see why and never got an answer. After it happened again at 23 weeks I realised it was most likely piles or a burst blood vessel. I was told dark brown is old blood so generally nothing to worry about unless it becomes red.

Sorry to bump an old thread but this has happened to me yesterday and today, exact same circumstances (after a difficult/hard bowel movement). I called maternity triage as per my region’s advice but they can’t see me before 12 weeks (I’m 11+1 and have my dating scan on 14th Dec).

Did everything turn out ok? 111 were helpful and I had a call back from the on-call maternity person who was really reassuring, but just wondered how things went for you both? X
