Vitex in pregnancy

Hi.

I had a medicamentous miscarriage in July and 2 chemicals in autumn, with low progesteron.

I started taking vitex for a while. Then stopped like for a month until I had positive test this week with my breasts getting really sore. Yesterday the symptom disappeared and I panicked and took two tablets of vitex 400mg thinking maybe the progesteron is low again. I should be almost 5 weeks

The symptoms reappeared last evening but now I'm stressing because it was only this morning that I read vitex is not recommended in pregnancy. I'm having the doctor's appointment on 23...

And feels I'll go nuts till then. Could I have done something bad? Should I continue taking vitex or not?

Thank you so much!

I read mixed things about vitex in pregnancy. I read some information that said they were recommended in cases of recurrent miscarriage, and my naturopath recommended them for me in the first trimester for this reason. However when I spoke with my GP about this and she consulted with the local maternity hospital they advised against them so I stopped.

If I were you I would stop taking them from now onwards but I definitely don't think that having taken them a couple of times would have hurt your pregnancy. I was taking them for about a week while pregnant before speaking with my GP and am now 20 weeks pregnant.

Sorry for your previous losses.

@Anoushka1986 sorry to be getting back on this.

Do you remember what week were you when you took them? Did you take them before getting pregnant as well? Who many mg were they?

Thanks so so much!!!

@Ding1 how did you get on

Ding1 · 26/03/2023 21:59

@MK85 not good. But I have no reason to link it with vitex.
