Hematoma in womb

Hi,

Sorry for the graphic detail..

I am 8w4d and last week I bled so much I had a clot the size of a golf ball that I passed and I thought I'd had a miscarriage. I then went for a scan yesterday and to my surprise they said that the baby was still there and that the heart was beating and he was in the right place measuring well.

On the opposite side of where the baby was on the other side of my womb is a clot that is 43mm x 21mm and I am still bleeding now, dark coloured so I assume it's old blood from the bleed last week.

They've given me progesterone hormone suppositories until I'm 12 weeks but I'm worried. They've given me cramps which I read is normal but I'm just wondering if anyone has had this too and if so, was the outcome good?

I'm so worried!

Thanks

Had something similar at 6 weeks, and the haematoma resolved itself by 20 weeks. That pregnancy is now a healthy toddler. It's definitely scary when you have a big bleed, but you are getting all the right care and baby is clearly growing okay.

not the same but similiar. two haematoma's either side of the sac, they said it could have been from implantation but they seemed to resolve themselves after a few weeks. I was told it could come out either fresh or old blood but usually most of it absorbs back into you, if that makes sense. I think if its outside the sac its a lot safer and good they know about it to monitor it as well

@Jusmakingit yes the hematoma is the other side of the baby not attached it couldn't be further away so I'm thankful for that but it's so big too it's just so scary. Guess I'll have to just wait and see how things progress. Thank you! X

I had a sizeable pool of blood - I think about 10x4cm at one point. I had bleeding throughout the pregnancy and had to attend hospital for anti d shots each time. It's important after each fresh new bleed to go back and get checked. I was admitted twice with massive bleeds I assumed was end of pregnancy and had to take it super easy. Luckily it all worked out and my baby is upstairs sleeping. It's the most stressful thing I've been through but all worth it

I had five massive bleeds between 4 and 8 weeks due to a hematoma. Fresh blood with lots of cramping. I noticed it usually happened after I had done something physical like hoovering or doing yoga so I tried to rest as much as I could. By 12 weeks the scan only showed a tiny area of old blood and I haven't had any issues since. I'm 19 weeks along now Hope all goes well for you!
