I know I sound insane I've had previous losses and I'm 36 weeks and petrified of stillbirth, I ate a box of Mike and Ike American candy today which I haven't had before and when I looked at the label there are so many different E numbers in them, about 12 different ones and I googled them and some say to avoid during pregnancy. I'm really worried I've harmed baby and I'm wanting to go make myself sick but husband telling me I'm being crazy. Am I?

Yes. But eating crap isn’t good regardless.

panickingmumm · 13/01/2023 21:00

I feel so anxious now I don't know if it's better to just draw a line that I ate badly today and do better tomorrow or if I need to try and get them back up Sad

Really helpful 🙄 OP, it’s fine. If they were such a danger to pregnant women then they wouldn’t be on general sale. Obviously if it makes you feel better then don’t eat any more.

TheYearOfSmallThings · 13/01/2023 21:04

Don't worry, they will do no harm at all. Natural to be anxious after your previous experiences, but if you are having trouble with intrusive thoughts, do speak to your midwife.

chocolatebuttonlover · 13/01/2023 21:05

Awww OP you'll be absolutely fine! Probably give the baby a bit of a sugar hit but nothing more

Sleepyquest · 13/01/2023 21:06

Honestly I ate so much shite when I was pregnant. Please don't worry about it

jtaeapa · 13/01/2023 21:07

Just think how many pregnant Americans ate that stuff. And do not worry yourself.

Sallyh87 · 13/01/2023 21:07

You are being crazy but very understandably so. There is nothing to worry about at all. Think of the amount of American ladies who have babies every year, there’s no advice to avoid candy!

Listen to your DH.

catsnore · 13/01/2023 21:07

I took some travel sickness medication when pregnant, without thinking, and then suddenly realised what I had done. Same panic!!!! But asked my midwife and she reassured me it would be absolutely fine. Babies are pretty safe in there and a few e numbers are not going to hurt your little one! Try not to worry x

And this!!! All the candy in America is full of E numbers and crap and I'm sure pregnant American women don't avoid sweets for 9 months.

mathanxiety · 13/01/2023 21:09

You realise that pregnant American women eat this kind of stuff frequently and don't have problems?

You would have to eat several truckloads to suffer ill effects.

LeafHunter · 13/01/2023 21:11

Seriously?!
You’ll be fine. Women in America eat sweets all the time.

remember though that strangers on the internet can’t diagnose you or tell you anything other than what they would do.

Baby has had hiccups for a good 20 mins now!! Feel like they don't usually go on for this long. I googled and read about it being a sign they are tangled in the cord.. Ahhh everything makes me so scared Sad

panickingmumm · 13/01/2023 21:28

Is it just all the sugar causing the hiccups..

Galarunner · 13/01/2023 21:53

None of the NHS or well known trusted pregnancy sites mention anything about hiccups being a sign of anything wrong. Try to go directly to a trusted site rather than googling when feeling anxious. Of course if you have a any concerns about changes in your babies movement contact your midwife or out of hours service. Anxiety like this is completely understandable especially after previous loss. Not many weeks to go now.

@panickingmumm my DD had hiccups all the time - I never thought anything of it, it is just funny seeing your tummy jump up and down!
