East Cheshire - giving birth at a unit that's been closed for 2 years?

I live in East Cheshire and my closest place to give birth is Macclesfield hospital. The birth unit has been closed since the start of covid but due to open in March this year - I am due in April. Anyone familiar with Macclesfield hospital and do you think it would be fine to give birth there given it's been out of action for a couple of years? My alternative is Stepping Hill. Many thanks

I had both of my children at Macclesfield. My experience after giving birth the first time wasn't particularly great but things had improved significantly by the time I had my second in 2018. People say good things about both Leighton and Stoke if either of those are options for you as alternatives

Macclesfield is an amazing maternity unit had all mine there but having to have this one at stepping hill due to complications that Macc aren’t able to deal with but to say I’m devastated would be an understatement, all the midwife’s from Macc have been working at wythenshaw, stepping hill and Leighton so haven’t been out of action and will all still very much know what they are doing. Honestly if I could change anything it would be to have this baby there like I did the others. X

I would go for Stoke tbh. I had my first at Macclesfield (several years ago tho) and it was not good. Then had two great experiences at Stoke. They deal with high risk pregnancies there, and the staff are very experienced. I would avoid Leighton.

I had one birth at macc hospital, it was traumatic, and I didn't like the way I was spoken too at all in a terrifying situation. I've had two at stepping hill since and it's worlds away! Go with stepping hill is my advice! They were so understanding to the bad time I'd had at Macclesfield.

All mine have been born at Leighton if that's an option? I have had excellent care both antenatally and postnatally.
