Confused! Expecting Period after miscarriage

I had an early miscarriage in December - baby stopped growing at 6 weeks and I miscarried at 8/9weeks. Confirmed by scan and negative test that all had passed and nothing further was needed.

Now I’m wondering what to expect for my first period and how it differed for those who have been through this?

IF my cycle has gone back to normal, I should be expecting to start at the end of this week/ start of next.

I’ve been feeling really sick and my boobs have been horrendously sore (mostly the nipples). About a week and a half/ two weeks ago I did have some jelly like blob-ish discharge that felt really thick which I never usually have. I’ve never had any of this before a period before so is it possible things have just changed for me symptoms wise? Did anyone else have changes for a lead up to a period?

I’ve just taken a pregnancy test (albeit a cheap one) and it’s come up negative but could it be that it would be too early to show up even if I had managed to conceive this early after? Which I would doubt? (Even though me and the partner have been having sex)

I’m just so confused and would really appreciate some insight for how it’s been for others!

Sorry for your loss. You can still conceive in that first month but also if it doesn’t happen this cycle take it as the first month of your body getting back into a routine and resetting.

It took me three months after the miscarriage- I had a natural miscarriage in April, although it was longwinded, incomplete and required surgery to end it in May. A few weeks later when I was due to ovulate I had really stringy thick discharge for a day and wondered if something was wrong. (Pre-mc I used to reliably have 5 days of watery discharge and ovulate at the end-this did go back to normal in the second cycle). Then a few weeks later I had my first period, I think if I remember the bleeding in that first period was a bit stringy too. I would say my first period was about 4.5 weeks after the surgery.

My periods were not normal, so don’t be surprised if that happens, but I don’t know if the surgery had any influence vs the miscarriage. What I mean is pre-mc I used to have 5-6 medium/heavy days, post-mc it went down to 1-3 very light days. I wouldn’t have considered it normal, and I started tracking ovulation to make sure that was happening, it was. I was going to leave it for 4-5 months to settle and then try to see a doctor, I was concerned about how light they were. However my third period never arrived and I’m now 23weeks pregnant.
