I thought it will useful to start new thread for women who are currently pregnant and in their 40s. Especially those with established families and older children.
I sometimes feel lost in hyper drama conversations of young mums to be lol feel like dinosaur.

A bit about myself, I'm 42 years old, have 10 and 13 year old daughters and currently around 7 weeks pregnant with surprise baby.

🙋‍♀️ Geriatric FTM here 🙄.......following a mmc last summer, I got a positive pregnancy test as a 40th birthday present at Christmas. All has been good so far, but have surprised myself about how anxious I have been. Kept putting off telling people until 12 werk scan, then wait until midwife appt then 20 weeks.....apart from the bigger belly i guess it still doesn't seem real and rather than enjoying this experience I am awaiting bad news 🙈 but i am now 21 weeks today 🥰

Sunandstars123 · 10/03/2023 11:04

Chickadee30 I'm also West, SW London with 10 yo DS.

Haven't even looked at NCT, didn't do it last time.

Sunandstars123 · 10/03/2023 11:06

nervousmum40 After 12 weeks we told only parents and one set of close friends each. Only after 20 weeks let it out to other but not very publically.

Chickadee30 · 10/03/2023 11:24

@Sunandstars123 I did it the first time but that was 10 years ago and am
still friends with that gorgeous bunch - but worried this time i'd be a real oldie!

Im SW too - Hampton area - whereabouts are you?

Sunandstars123 · 10/03/2023 11:27

@Chickadee30 I'm in Ealing and Richmond :)

Chickadee30 · 10/03/2023 11:28

Just to let you all know I’m 40 and had my little girl on Tuesday. Had to have an emergency C-section due to a failed ecv. Baby girl is perfect, needed a bit of oxygen at first but I think it was due to the stress of the ecv. We are home now so good luck to you all

Koalawhala · 10/03/2023 14:45

@Room4onemore congratulations! I hope you have a good recovery and enjoy all those newborn snuggles!

ThisIsMeD · 10/03/2023 17:16

How many weeks along are you. Wishing you all the best, and hope that everything will be OK. What a trip pregnancy can be! 🖤

How's it going. Mine is very eventful. Will find out more information next Thursday. Have been bleeding since last Saturday. Went to epu on Monday. Lots of drama 🙄

@Room4onemore Congratulation 🎊 wishing you and the baby a good health!

Another sleepless night for me... anyone suffering from insomnia?

Bellybobs · 11/03/2023 08:21

Hi everyone I'm 42 and 7 weeks tomorrow. Just wondering if anyone knows if I'll be allowed a home birth at my age.

ThisIsMeD · 11/03/2023 11:51

@Sunandstars123 surprisingly, I’ve been sleeping so well over the past two weeks, after a long bout with insomnia.

23+6, I hope it continues. Although I have tried to increase my daily walks. So that has helped.

Dgu27 · 11/03/2023 11:56

I’m still so nervous… feel like I can’t get excited! Hoping if everything goes well, we can begin to relax after scans etc! I wasn’t like this at all with my 10year old ds, but after my mmc and reading all the scare stories about pregnancy at my age… no wonder I suppose. Congratulations @Room4onemore ❤️

probably, but ask the midwife.

littlegingerone · 15/03/2023 14:39

Just wanted to join as I have just had a positive pregnancy test at 42 for the first time ever. I'm finding I'm too scared to get excited at this stage and even feel nervous of telling my husband tonight as I think he'll be excited and I will be trying to be cautious. Just keeping everything crossed at the moment and hoping that if it stays I'll get to a point where I could enjoy it

Sunandstars123 · 15/03/2023 19:00

@littlegingerone wishing all goes very well for you!! :) It's indeed very exciting and must be very long awaited for :) I was super cautious and tried not to get too attached up until first scan at 12 weeks, but we did celebrate each week's milestone :)

littlegingerone · 16/03/2023 08:32

Thanks very much it's quite a relief to tell people who might understand, we've told a couple of key friends but overall will wait until after the 12 week scan. I'm debating whether an early private scan will give us some reassurance did anyone else have one for peace of mind?

Sunandstars123 · 16/03/2023 13:12

@littlegingerone I had one in EPU scan at 5 or 6 weeks, I had a dull pain on one side. They were quick to see me for scan without any issues and then I just peacefully waited for 12 weeks scan

Hi ladies, I'm 40 and 22w+2 with my 3rd. Anyone in South East London or Kent? @Happyhappy39soon40 you've mentioned King's College Hospital and that's where I go for my NHS scans :)
