I thought it will useful to start new thread for women who are currently pregnant and in their 40s. Especially those with established families and older children.
I sometimes feel lost in hyper drama conversations of young mums to be lol feel like dinosaur.

A bit about myself, I'm 42 years old, have 10 and 13 year old daughters and currently around 7 weeks pregnant with surprise baby.

I had a baby at 41 and another when I was 45. Both super easy pregnancies and easy births (although both induced). I'm the oldest mum in the yard and I don't give a hoot. My children are an absolute joy and I tell them they are miracles, which to me and dh they are. Enjoy the pregnancy. It's a gift. I also have an older child who was 11 when I had the baby at 40 and he loved the babies when they came and they all have a wonderful relationship, although they do bicker like siblings do.
Wishing all of you happy, healthy pregnancies. Joyous x

@44andpregnant as women get older they tend to ovulate earlier even with regular cycles. Even if length of cycle is same, often luteal phase gets longer and it's not unusual to let's say ovulate day 9-12 of 28 cycle for example. I only tested when 5 days late but didn't actively try to get pregnant and it came strong dark right away on cheap 50p test.

Wow that’s a dark one. I only had unprotected sex once on 1st Jan and got a dark test in on 11th Jan!

Moni81 · 14/01/2023 16:52

@44andpregnant that's very fast too in 10 days.

Hi, I'm 40 and 22 weeks pregnant as of tomorrow. I also have DS5 who is excited about the baby 🙂 Unfortunately I have had HG and gestational diabetes this time round, neither of which I had with my son, so it hasn't been easy!

Camelia23 · 21/01/2023 07:33

Hello and congratulations to everyone. I am so glad to find this as I am 42 and found out that I am pregnant two days ago. As my first day of last period was 12/12/2022 I calculate being in week 5 now. I have a daughter which will be 22y in March. She always wanted a sibling, I even told her the universe waited for her to be settled so I can look after the next one 😊. I have mixed feelings and I am anxious to see the midwife. Which week usually you have your first appointment with midwife?

I was 42 on Monday and I’m 6 weeks pregnant…! I’m so nervous as had missed miscarriage and d&c 3 months ago(early scan put me at 6.3 weeks instead of 8.3)…. Just keeping everything crossed but feel like can’t even get excited until 12 weeks and such a long wait!

Moni81 · 02/03/2023 08:05

@Dgu27 congratulations, It definitely feels like long wait, but doing scan earlier will not put your mind at rest for long. I had my 13 week scan last Friday, so far so good, still waiting for blood results. I have my 20 weeks scan date but already get anxious if everything will be fine until then. Just waiting for first kicks. For now try to take as much rest as you can and relax, I was mega tired and out of breath until 7-8 weeks.

Thanks @Moni81 and congratulations ❤️You are so right, feel like the next few months will be an anxious time no matter what! Just if I get to 12/13 weeks I’ll feel an achievement! I also have a 10 year old and already he has had to adjust to a new partner after being just the two of us for so long. He’s said I’m too old for babies at least so Putting off that conversation for a while!

Happyhappy39soon40 · 02/03/2023 13:42

I am 40 years young and is 6 weeks pregnant.
Eldest son is almost 18 and I have a 6 year son.
Got my booking appointment 12 March at King's college hospital.
I have non- stop lower back pain
Full of cold 🥴

Moni81 · 02/03/2023 14:03

@Dgu27 I have 13 and nearly 11 year old daughters, luckily they will be both in high school from September. First reaction of my cheeky older daughter was asking me how it is even possible at my age 🤣. Younger one gets shy when I talk about pregnancy and doesn't want to hear about it. Older one looks more interested, checking my growing belly every now and then. It's hard to navigate with older kids but I'm sure they will come around closer to delievery date.

I’m 40 and this is my first pregnancy. I’m at 22+5.

Been an uneventful pregnancy thus far, with first trimester exhaustion being the only real symptom, which eventually wore off after a month or so. Hopefully that continues as I’ve been able to keep up with working out, walking etc.

Everything is so new though, so I definitely feel at home with both the younger mums as well as the older ones here.

The learning never stops! All the best to you all 😁

Koalawhala · 09/03/2023 20:13

Hi everyone, I’m 42 and 7 weeks pregnant with my 3rd. Feeling nervous about this pregnancy being more difficult/higher risk and also how I’ll cope going back to the baby/toddler years in my 40s!

How's it going. Mine is very eventful. Will find out more information next Thursday. Have been bleeding since last Saturday. Went to epu on Monday. Lots of drama 🙄

You will be fine. We are stronger than we think. Most times we overthink things too much. I am 40 pregnant with my potential 3rd (fingers crossed)

Moni81 · 10/03/2023 03:24

@Happyhappy39soon40 I'm 15 weeks today, it only started to feel real after 12 week scan. So far so good, but up to week 8 I was exhausted and out of breath. My belly is really sticking out now, like 5 months. I hope you are feeling better and bleeding is nothing serious. They should have done scan to check if baby is ok, there are many reasons for bleeding in early pregnancy and you need reassurance.

I'm 40 and 23 weeks down the road. Also being an old cynic who knows what cost the babies are coming with. 😁 That's why being reserved when people are excited about the pregnancy. 😁 So yes, feel like not fitting in in younger mums group.

Have almost 11 yo DS and planned to enjoy my life after the 11+ ordeal. But here we go 🤪😂

DH is excited and happy, big brother is positive too. And just me feeling tired and not looking forward sleepless nights and running after toddler. 😁

But yet very appreciative to universe for a little miracle and kindness to us.

Sunandstars123 · 10/03/2023 06:39

This time round buying bare minimum for the baby and preferably preloved 😁 and hopefully being a lazy selfish mum this time round 😁 Did 150% with DS and not planning again on own sacrifices.

Taz29duffy1 · 10/03/2023 07:05

@Moni81 I am also 15 weeks today! I am 45 and this is my first (after many many IVFs and miscarriages). I had some bleeding early on, but largely pregnancy uneventful. Not really showing, just look a bit more rounded! Still going to the gym etc and feeling good!

Sunandstars123 · 10/03/2023 08:22

Taz29duffy1 very happy for you 🤗

Wishing to all of us easy pregnancies and healthy kids!

Apart from being constantly tired and having a blocked nose, it was good and without any major worries so far.

Moni81 · 10/03/2023 08:36

@Sunandstars123 I'm same, this time round it's shpock for bigger stuff to collect locally and vinted for clothes as you can buy lots of new barely used items. Baby stuff is like new car, costs fortune when new and loose value fast. I already have full travel system in very good condition cybex GB Maris which cost me whole £50🤣gliding crib for £20 and mamas papas starlite swing £12 🙈. Shame we didn't have so many online second hand places to buy when my girls were little.

Moni81 Great finds 😁👍 I think Cybix Priam will be the choice for me or maybe great German brand Teutonia.

Hi all, I've not been on here in a while as been swamped in a middle of a house renovation. (that's what you do when you are a pregnant geriatric mother right?! ☺️)

I am 41 and 20 weeks pregnant with my third... I have two sons aged 6 and 10...

Im based in West London - would love to know if any one here is in a similar geographical area? Has anyone bothered joining NCT or similar again? I feel like i need to meet mums who will
have a baby as all my mum friends kids are now older!
