Hello

First time pregnant at 15 weeks 3 days and have so far had one scan and an antenatal appointment at my local medical centre.

I’ve just received letters for obstetrics appointments in late March and late May.

What happens at these appointments? Apologies for my ignorance, this is all new to me.

Are you consultant led? From the timings it could be appointments to discuss birth options.

Are you high risk or over 40? That's when you get obstetrician care combined with midwife apparently. I'm 42 and hope to find out at booking appointment how my care will look like.

Did you have booking appointment and scan at same time? I haven't received letter for scan so far, midwife appointment is in medical centre near hospital, so just wonder they may do it all there as in your case.

I’m 30, first pregnancy, low BMI

Dont believe I am consultancy led? I just made a booking appt with my chosen hospital when I found out I was pregnant, and all appointments have been separate so far.

Don’t believe there’s anything about my pregnancy that’s high risk so I’m just confused and trying not to overthink.

Yeah I think it all looks so different depend on location. I don't quite remember as my last pregnancy was long time ago. I remember going to hospital for scans only and seeing midwife locally. Back then I don't think I was given hospital choice though, this time I had like 3 to pick from.

Have you been assigned a midwife?

It could be for growth scans or something similar? Some NHS trusts offer growth scans to all women in the third trimester. I got an appointment letter for meeting a consultant after my first midwife appointment at 8 weeks, meeting was for when I was 32 weeks. It turned out my growth scan was at the same time but got some reason the hospital sent out appointment with Consultant much much earlier than the scan letter. The appointment was just to review the scan results and discuss.
