Planned c section

I had an emergency CSection with my daughter for lots of reasons so want to request a planned c section this time. When do you find out when it will be? My work will be wanting me to say when I’ll be wanting my maternity to start and I want it to start on the day of the planned section if possible and then book a weeks annual leave the week before. No point in having much more off as it won’t be a rest before baby as my daughter will be off for summer holidays 😂 but be nice to spend that week with her

My friend didn't find out till 37 weeks. So late!

I also had an emg c section and going fo have a planned one next time! Apparently the recovery is way easier with a planned one. Good luck n

Found out 1 week in advance of actual date, however if there is no medical need (there wasn't for me) it won't be any earlier than 39+0 so you could plan for that date, as will be within 7 days of that

I had a consultant appointment after the 20 week scan and we booked it in then.

Thanks ladies. I thought it would be around 39 weeks. There isn’t a medical need as such but I was told after my daughters birth that not many hospitals would want me to try a vbac as likely the same thing will happen again and both mine and my daughters life was at risk (particularly my daughters). I was strongly recommended not even considering a vbac so no way will I be doing so.

I knew it would be 39th week but didn't get my actual date until my pre op at 38 weeks. Would do it again in a heartbeat both such amazing births

I think it varies by trust but mine book them in for as close to 39 weeks as possible. I had an appointment with the consultant in August and it was booked in for exactly 39 weeks in October so I had a date 2 months in advance.

I was told no official decision would be made until around 36 weeks as to whether you can actually have one (although in your case I totally can't see there being an issue) and then like others have said I think you find out the date much nearer the time. I'm planning on having one myself. Baby is due end of July so I think I'll go on maternity a couple of weeks before I turn 39 weeks just so I have a couple weeks to rest and get stuff organised etc
