Pain after sweep, experiences?

Hi, 40+6 here. Had my sweep yesterday at 1pm, midwife said cervix was soft, short and 1-2cm so looking good. I haven't slept a single bit of sleep since though! Doesn't seem regular but I've been half asleep tossing and turning since 6pm trying to sleep so I've not timed anything, but I keep getting cramping/period pain that lasts about 30 seconds max, peaks and then goes. Maybe ten minutes apart or less? It does feel a bit contraction-y with the time between it but I had such a quick labour with my first (6 hours) and this has been constant with no real change for hours and hours now! Anybody else experience this, is it the start of anything? Should I be worried, the midwife mentioned risk of infection from the sweep? Now I'm starting to worry a bit

Hi @Razputini i had my baby in October, after being induced i had waves of contractions for 24 hours. I was told to walk walk walk up and down the corridor and when i got back to the ward i had to bounce on the birthing ball, i didn't do it enough tbh i wish i had i think my baby would have got here sooner!

That's how my labour started. Had a sweep, had non painful tightenings all evening that progressed into mild tightenings every ten minutes overnight. Gradually built up and I was in labour by 11am, baby born by 4pm.

Oh my contractions were never the textbook regular 2-3 in ten, so I was reluctant to phone the midwife. But when she assessed me I was 6cm already. The signs for me we're being more vocal and focused during the contractions, whereas in the earlier ones I could distract myself with a bit of TV/phone time

Yep, born at 11:10! Thank you for the support, advice and reassurance that it was labor 😁 surprised that the sweep worked I didn't want to get my hopes up
