Hi all.
Just wondering how far in advance were you called to confirm elective Caesarean date? I’ve been told it will be booked for when I am 39 weeks which would be 18th Jan. I’m 38 weeks now and haven’t had any other communication about when I need to go in or if the date is confirmed. I had my V-bac appointment at 28 weeks where they gave me the provisional date and I have also been back in at 35 weeks to sign my consent form and again they said I would be called with confirmation. Has anyone else experienced this? How much notice were you given? I’ve got a 3 year old and need to have child care sorted and need to make plans around babys arrival. Thanks all.

Maybe ask your midwife/consultant. Mine was planned from 24 weeks, however I had a previous third trimester loss so I think this was why it was planned in advance. But you have to have pre-op blood tests and stuff which have to be done so many days before the section, so I maybe just ask to make sure you're not forgotten 🙂
Best of luck with it all!

I had a phone consultation in November and was booked in for a section on January 17th.

Hi OP.

I'm currently 36 weeks and still waiting for a date for mine too! I have a consultant appointment next week when I'll be close to 37 weeks and have been told to expect to me given a date then.

I think it can vary from hospital to hospital. Somebody I know gave birth a few months ago and was only told two days prior to come in for her c section. Think it depends on how busy they are if I'm honest.

Oh and also just today I received an an appointment letter for an appointment with an anaesthetist at the end of the month! Have you had this yet?

I was supposed to see a consultant when I was signing my consent form but I saw one of his team instead, I asked about my bloods and she said I’ll have them done on the day, which gave me a feeling of dread as I work on a surgical ward and know that this can delay things waiting for results but maternity may be different! Think I will be calling tomorrow! x

She also said I’d see the anaesthetist the morning of surgery too. Just feels like I’m kind of in limbo and would just like a set date, but then again I suppose I’m not the only one!

I got mine the week before. But with all the post issues I’d text your midwife and she can check if it’s been scheduled
