Experiences regarding bleeding

Hi all!

So I’m very early pregnant and have been spotting for 2 weeks then a week with some heavier bleeding. It’s always been red.
I had a scan yesterday expecting the worst and just wanting to confirm the end but instead there was a sac and yolk sat there in the right place with no blood around it.

The doctor couldn’t tell me where the bleeding is coming from so I need a rescan in 2 weeks to see if the pregnancy is developing as it should. My cervix was closed and I don’t have any pain, just the odd ache from time to time. She obviously couldn’t tell me if I’m likely to miscarry or not so I’m just sat in limbo it feels.

The bleeding I’m having is very thin, almost like I’ve cut myself so as you can imagine it’s red and just trickles out occasionally. I get very small gushes. Has anyone got any experience of this or can shed any light for me?

Hi, I had bleeding at around 6 weeks (Red and thin and some clots). They scanned me and said that they couldn't see baby and told me it was ectopic. I had several blood tests which were saying my HCG levels were lower than they should be but they would rescan me a week after. I had the second s an and everything was fine. I spotted for about 2 weeks after the initial bleed and now it's stopped (I'm now 9+1)
The doctors put so much fear in myself and my partner but turns out was just a bit early to see baby on the scan and the bleeding, to quote my midwife "was implantation bleeding or sometimes people can just bleed during pregnancy"

Not sure if this helps or if our situations are similar but I can totally understand the limbo feeling.

Bleeding in the early weeks is a lot more common than we all think. I had five really heavy bleeds between 4 and 8 weeks. Bright red blood, some small clots and some cramping as well. It was a constant rollercoaster and I didn't really know whether it was going to stick until the 12 week scan. But I'm 18 weeks now and all is looking good (although I'm still anxious).
Unfortunately there's no way of knowing whether it'll work out when you're still in your first trimester. It's an agonising waiting game. Wishing you all the best!

Had bleeding throughout entire pregnancy every 6-8 weeks with two big bleeds that had me admitted. They think it was due to a subchronic haemotoma that is created outside the sac when the placenta slightly detaches from the wall slightly. These can disappear by reabsorbing or come out as mine did. They can see it on ultrasound if it's sizeable. But really opened my eyes to bleeding in pregnancy being a thing. Still important to go get checked every time theres a new bleed.

Thanks for replies everyone.

How long did your bleeding last for each time it occurred?
I am having major toilet fear and every twinge or ache is torture mentally. It makes me worried and sad everytime I feel the trickle of blood come down too 😩

Hi there - I had bleeding in 2/4 of my pregnancies. The first was classed as a missed miscarriage, with bleeding and the small gushes you describe every couple of days or so from 5 weeks on, and I eventually had a d&c at 11 weeks. Which was heartbreaking at the time. The second pregnancy I had bleeding and a not very encouraging first scan at six weeks. By 8 weeks the bleeding had stopped and the scan showed a tiny bean with a strong heartbeat. He is now 4. I think in truth it can go either way, it’s too early to know. Waiting is so tough. Be gentle with yourself and do talk to trusted friends and family if you feel able. Best wishes for your pregnancy.

With my first I bled up until about week 11 with some really heavy bleeds. I had a scan and like you expected the worst but there he was.

I'm not sure if it's related but further down the line we discovered he wasn't growing and more so they whipped him out at 34w, small but perfectly healthy.

He's currently asleep in his bedroom with his little brother.
