My friend is 17 weeks pregnant and she has been in and out of hospital over the last 10 days, losing light brown, watery discharge, quite a lot of it. After several scans, the doctor doesn't seem to think that the membrane has ruptured. Although she has been losing a lot of watery discharge. Anyhow, she has another scan on Friday to see if there is any change. She has been warned that the outcome may not be good. Apparently, not AF means the limbs can become fused together as not room for the baby to move. Can anyone give me any advice to pass on to her on how possibly to bring the AF levels back up. She is very very scared, so am I. There is a chance the pregnancy may have to be terminated. Has anyone had similar experience. Thanks for any advice x

Sorry to hear about your friend's situation
So she has been losing fluid and the scans show low level fluid but the Dr doesn't think the membranes have ruptured? Did they say what they think may be the cause of all this?

The doctor said he couldn't find a rupture. He said there could have been one but it must have been repairing itself. I think we just need to wait and see the outcome on Friday to know really what's going on. I told her to drink as much water as she can, is this right?

I'm sure it's a good idea for her to make sure she is drinking enough -if she were to become dehydrated this would not help the situation. But I think there is little she can do herself to increase the levels. there is usually a cause such as amniotic fluid being lost or not enough amniotic fluid being made. Sadley at 17 weeks I think there is little anyone can do but wait and see.
