Hi

I had a missed miscarriage at 12 weeks in December, we want to start to try again but not sure if it's best to wait, I've been reading you don't have to wait for your first period? Is this right?

Thanks

Hi @rlc2022 i had a miscarriage at 12 weeks in September. I had surgical management after failed medical management and was advised to wait till bleeding had stopped, and I’d had my first period. My first period was so so light and I found out this weekend I am pregnant again. So it took me 3 cycles to catch, although I know some people can catch straight away. I think if you feel you are ready mentally and physically, and have no complications, then there is no harm. Good luck and so sorry for your loss xx

So sorry for your loss, it’s a horrible thing to go through. I miscarried in April and started trying once I’d had my first proper period after the D&C. This was based on advice from my doctor (I’m fairly certain it’s so that doctors can be more sure on dates in the subsequent pregnancy). I fell pregnant the next month and am now 35 weeks.

All my best wishes to you xx

So sorry for your loss OP. I had a MMC at 9 weeks with medical management in Jan 2021 and hospital advised to wait one cycle before TTC again. Think it gives everything a chance to "clear" and as PP said better for dating any subsequent pregnancy. So we started TTC again on cycle 2 and successfully conceived on cycle 3. Perfect DS born December 2021. Best of luck with your journey x

Sorry to hear about your miscarriage ♥️

I had a miscarriage back in October and I fell pregnant straight away, I didn’t have a period in between, I’m currently 13 weeks now ♥️

the only thing the dr said was they couldn’t be exact on my dates but where they would usually date your last period, they put in the day that I had my last scan, which was one week after my miscarriage (this scan showed the miscarriage was complete) x

So sorry for your loss @rlc2022 🤍

I had a mmc in May 2022. I had a scan after 2 weeks to confirm everything had passed, but I started tracking ovulation as soon as I stopped bleeding. I ovulated 23 days after the medical management and fell pregnant, currently 33 weeks tomorrow ♥️so no period in between.

Like another poster said, if you feel emotionally ready then there’s nothing to stop you. I was told the main reason they discourage it is due to dating, but as I was tracking ovulation it was a risk I was happy to take. Good luck and do whatever is best for you emotionally x

There's no medical reason why you should have to wait, it just makes it harder to date the pregnancy, is all, but then they can use the scan to estimate the dates.
If you feel ready, then it's fine to.
