Paranoid When Sleeping...

Hi,

3rd pregnancy and I'm paranoid about everything, don't remember worrying this much about last 2 pregnancies which were 15 & 11 years ago so maybe it's just my age? Lol
Sleeping positions has been my worst worry, told NOT to Sleep on back and NOT to sleep on your right side. I seem to wake up 3-4 times a night to move back to my left but find laying on my back the most comfortable position as side laying seems to give me achy legs even using a pregnancy pillow.
Anyone else worrying or can reassure me?

I don’t think sleeping on your right side is an issue. Left side is better but there’s nothing wrong with the right side. I switch between the two otherwise I get too uncomfortable in one position. Also when I’ve looked into this is the past, I’ve always read that you shouldn’t worry if you wake up having rolled on to your back, just move on to your side again as soon as you’re aware of it. And one thing that helps me is to lie on my back for a few minutes at a time to stretch out when I’m awake during the night. Then go back on to one side. Try not to worry too much, just do your best, it’s all just precautions anyway!

I am under a consultant for various things, and asked her about sleeping positions and she said the exact same as the advice from @Kate120. DH was waking me up trying to roll me from my back to my side (all very well intentioned!) and she said it’s fine but just reset when you wake in the night. Left slightly preferable to right, but not enough to make yourself uncomfortable over.

My midwife said that if the bump is heavy enough to cause problems then it will be heavy enough to make it uncomfortable to sleep on your back.

It makes me angry that we have ended up as a society that scares women shitless about the way they sleep, as we can’t sort out the actual healthcare problems that give England the still birth rate it has.

See with my other 2 I wasn't even aware of sleeping on a certain side and not to sleep on your back, I've been more stressed and worried about everything with this pregnancy from sleeping, to even moving wrongly then getting twinges then that worries me iv done something wrong, then being nearly 20weeks and not having much movement so worried something ain't right, then I'm worried I'm moving to much while working and ache so much again worried something is wrong. Il be glad when his finally here 😔😔

I totally hear you but i think i put it down to just wanting to protect my bubba, i don't think you're paranoid x
