I'm 18 weeks pregnant and for the last two weeks I've really been struggling to sleep at night? Even though I'll be absolutely exhausted when I go to bed, for some reason I just can't get to sleep until 2.30/3am. I've never had sleep issues before now, so the only thing I think can be the cause of it is pregnancy? Has anyone else experienced this? How did you cope?

I feel your pain OP. I had insomnia all the way through my first pregnancy and have had it on and off this time with my second. I get to sleep ok but then wake up during the night and lie awake for hours. I’ve started just getting up and going downstairs to watch TV, then after a while I seem to pass out on the sofa. Maybe it’s just the change of room/ distraction that helps. It’s so frustrating though, exhausted and desperate to sleep but not able to. It’s definitely a pregnancy symptom because I looked into it last time round.

I’m not sure what to suggest but maybe try googling insomnia remedies that are safe for pregnancy? Last time for me it went away as soon as DD was born. Obviously I was still up a lot in the night looking after her but I didn’t have that frustrating feeling of not being able to sleep for no reason. Hopefully it passes for you soon!
