Hi all, just having a look at my employee handbook. I have attached a picture of what it says. If I found out I was pregnant and had been with the company for say a year and a half, would this mean I would be entitled to the 8 weeks full pay and then 18 weeks at half pay as I would’ve been employed with the company for 2 years and 3 months before going on mat leave?
Thank You

The only way to clarify would be to ask HR, there is nothing to say either way (is there maybe another policy document accessible with more words than pictures?).

I would think its whatever applies when your maternity leave starts, but it's probably best to read the whole maternity policy to check or ask HR as PP suggests

It's usually the length is service up to your expected week of confinement. Well it was everywhere I worked

Most I’ve found tend to be the qualifying week in a pregnancy ..
Your qualifying week is the 15th week before your estimated week of childbirth. To work our your qualifying week, count 15 weeks back from the first day of your expected week of childbirth

It's usually 2 years service by your qualifying week, which is 15 weeks before your due date.

Is there a page with clarification in writing as to when the 2 years service is taken from e.g. from 25th week of pregnancy or until the due date?

There must be more than that info wise, if there isn’t you will need clarification from HR. May be getting ahead of yourself but I’d also ask what options they have payment wise. If you’re wanting longer than 34 weeks off some employers offer the option to even the pay out over a longer period which is helpful for some.

Agree with others, pretty certain you would have to be employed for over 2 years in your qualifying week, which is when maternity pay is calculated. That would be when you were 25 weeks pregnant so sounds like you would just scrape it?
