Colostrum harvesting... getting harder?!

I have started collecting colostrum this week after my midwife appointment, the first day I easily got a syringe from each side in the morning, every day since then has been harder and harder to collect? Today I only got half a syringe between the two side

Has anyone else had this? What could I do to increase things or what could have caused it to disappear?

I wouldn't sweat about it until baby is here OP.

It’s affected by stress, so finding ways to relax might help.

But! More importantly, don’t worry if you don’t get any more. You’ve already learned a super useful skill, which you can put to use if needed one baby is here and more colostrum is available. I didn’t get much before birth, but knowing how to hand express gave us more options and kept DD out of hospital (she was dehydrated, and being able to express a bunch of syringe-fulls and squirt them in her mouth perked her right up).

Please feel reassured and encouraged by having learned how to do this.

I have no advice on this as haven’t started yet but commenting so I can also read any useful updates as need to start soon due to having gestational diabetes. I hope you manage to get what you need @NewandNrvous. I’ve read a lot of women say they managed to get some and then didn’t need it in the end but if you’re like me you’ll be wanting to be prepared to make sure you do everything you can that is asked of you. 😄

Is this your first baby OP? I wouldn't worry either way, it's useful to have just a couple of syringes in the freezer. If baby latches well then you may not even need it. Well done for collecting some!

Personally I'm persevering with it this time round as I struggled to latch baby the first time round - ended up pumping full time. Not ideal! It's a useful skill to learn regardless, you'll be glad you did.

Yeah its my first so maybe over thinking things, I have had breast uplift and implants so breastfeeding has been a concern for me from the start, after leaking since 20 weeks I was very hopeful and was easy the first time to get a syringe each side so I hoped it would be easier each day but the next day I got 2 again but took longer then one the next day and I have given up today after collecting half, I will try again tomorrow but just felt like I needed to give myself a break today as it wasn't working and I was just feeling frustrated and hormonal about it
