TTC 2.5 years no success - now missed 2 periods and negative pregnancy test

Just reaching out here as I'm a bit flummoxed and trying to calm my brain before I go to the GP.

I'm 40 and TTC for the last 2.5 years. I had previously been on the pill for over a decade and it took a few months for periods to come back. Once they did, they have been like clockwork - with an occasional day or two late or early.

At the start of December, I was due on, and a few days before my period was due I had some slight spotting when I wiped once and nothing much came of it other than a tiny bit of discharge with old blood - pads seemed to be empty.

This last week I was due on Tuesday - still nothing today. I did not want to get my hopes up. Been nauseous, sore boobs, incredibly irritable and not even any spotting or period signs. I decided to do a clear blue test and it was negative - I was absolutely convinced I was pregnant.

I'm spiralling a little so just wondering if anyone has any advice, has been in a similar situation, has experienced issues with clear blue tests etc.

Helping bump.

Sorry to hear about the challenges you've faced. 2 missed periods is rather unusual, I'd certainly consult a doctor/ specialist to establish if there's cause for concern.

You may also get more traction in the conception and infertility forums as there will certainly be people in comparable positions or who have had similar experiences.

I would see the GP, as could be the start of early menopause?

Thank you - I did think that could be the case but was hoping not.
