Scared of telling in laws

I’m 23 and six weeks pregnant and have been really ill with this pregnancy so far. My in laws do a lot of child care for us as we both work so I’ve been making up excuses as to why I’ve been so ill. My husband thinks it’s a good idea to tell them relatively soon so they don’t keep questioning what’s wrong with me. I never told them about dd my husband done that on his own and their reaction wasn’t great last time. I have been hinting that I want another baby soon but I’m worried about their reaction this time.

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

As they currently help you a lot they might not be thrilled if the news means they’ll be needed even more. Is that what you’re worried about? It’s up to you when you tell and I hope you’re feeling better soon. Is he going to tell them by himself again?

Happily telling them with my husband. I have anxiety so I think I might just be overthinking things

Did you have this baby with the expectation that they would also help with childcare with this one while you worked? If so, I can see why they would be unhappy

Why are you worried about their reaction. Have they said /done something to suggest they would be unhappy?

Do you live with them?

hoppityscotch · 08/01/2023 16:21

Why weren't they happy the first time? They might be ok this time now they've experienced your first child. Make sure they know you have a plan for child care if they don't want to do it.

You could say I'm pregnant but don't worry I've found a local nursery that can take one or both.

There was no need to panic! They apparently knew and thought I was further along than I am, don’t know whether to be insulted or not. 😂

No intention of needing them to help with childcare and no we don’t live with them. We live in our own place
