Hiya I'm 13 weeks pregnant and was diagnosed with this wonderful condition last week. My mum had it all the way through all her pregnancies and I was just wondering whether it was just me? Feel so rubbish at the moment, keep being sick constantly and only have 3 tablets to take during the day to help(!)
Anyways I was just wondering whether anyone else had any experience of it as I am wishing it will get better as time goes on, but the doctor doesn't seem to think it will in my case

Thx

There is no reason to think that it will not get better, lots of women have sickness that improves at some point before 20weeks, usually sooner than later. Even women who have hyperemesis normally improve. It is horrid I imagine, I did not have it myself but felt thoroughly grim and was sick quite a few times until it went suddenly at about 11 weeks. Felt like it had been going on forever, even though I know I got off lightly compared with some. Take heart, it is more likely to stop than continue, then you have the joys of heartburn, piles, stretchmarks etc to look forward to. Good luck

bless you, i had HG until i was about 5 months pg so i can totally sympathise - i also felt like the only person in the world to have been so ill during pg, all my friends who had had babies had been glowing and fine! You just have to hang in there and believe it will get better - it will! From about 6 months on i could hardly STOP eating - on extreme to the other.
We had just moved to a new city where we knew no one when found i was pg so it a lonely and miserable few months. I ended up in hospital twice to be rehydrated and no tablets seemed to help at all. uckily i hadn't found a job before we moved so ended up in bed for most of that time! Have a look at www.hyperemesis.org.uk/
i only found this site after i was better and wish i had seen it before!
Also, i just wanted to say that having HG made me feel really quite ambivalent towards the baby - but from the minute he was born i have been totally in love with my ds who is 14 mo. Have to say that i am nervous about having another one though.. not sure yet!
All the very best to you and do post again if you need some support
