Any other mummas out there had to wait so long for their first scan?! Im not getting my first scan until 14weeks and 1 day.. another 3 weeks away, and the anxiety and worrying is really starting to get to me. Im not sleeping at night constantly worried. Paying for a private scan just isn’t an option as we just don’t have the money, and the hospital couldn’t seem to care that my scan is so late and I’m worried about it :/

Are you wanting to have the NIPT screening for trisomies like downs, Edwards and pataus? If so they can't do it past 13+6 weeks, I think there's another test they can do later though.

Actually NIPT can be done at any time (but not offered on nhs unless you are high risk for downs), pp is thinking of the normal NHS screening (I think it is the triple test). After a certain gestation they have to do a different test instead (quadruple test??).

OP this is not great, do you have a midwife you can contact?

I was sent a later scan so I rang up fetal medicine and they brought it forwards for me, worth an ask :)

@MotherOfCrocodiles that's the one thanks! Just had my NT screening so you'd think it'd be fresh in my mind!

Just phone the ultrasound department and ask for the appointment to be brought forward before 13+6

Sadly, they’re saying there’s no more free appointments until my scan date as they’re so short staffed

I had my scan at 14+1 although didn't know at the time, only found out I was measuring ahead when I turned up. They were able to do all the usual risk screenings. It was a bit trickier and took a little longer because the baby was on the cusp of second trimester (which is 14+2 apparently) but sonographer said to me they could do the screenings a different way if they hadn't been able to then. Hopefully that gives you some comfort.
