5 weeks 5 day scan - empty womb, positive test

I feel totally broken.

Im 42 and thought I was in peri menopause. But on the 28th December hubby and I had the shock of our lives to discover I was pregnant.

I’ve had positive tests everyday getting darker including today, but, today I tested and not only did clear blue still only show 2-3 (same as last Saturday) but the scan showed an empty womb. Nothing no sack nothing. They looked both abdominals and internally.

There was thickening and a cyst on my left ovary. But not sign of anything on the scan.

they have taken bloods and I’m waiting the results, more to be taken Monday to see if it’s doubled or dropped.

ive had losses before and have pcos (regular cycles) and endermetriosis and a reverted uterus.

With my son I saw his heart beat at 45 days pregnant 6 + 2.

I feel totally broken. Does anyone have any stories on this happening to them? If so what was the outcome?

If you thought you were in peri maybe your periods are irregular? Could you just be earlier than you thought. A thickened endometrium and a cyst on an ovary ( corpus luteum) are good signs of an early pregnancy.

My periods are usually every 26-29 days

I’ve always been regular. 41 was this mornings tests before the scan

What was the early scan for?

Because I’ve had pain on the right and previous losses

Hospital just called levels are 577 hcg which she said would be to early to see something on scan. But Monday will tell when we see if going up or down so still no further forward

I know when we last did the do though so not feeling positive

It is probably too early. When my test lines on FRER were equal my hcg was only 321 at 5 weeks (22dpo), which is low for me, but has still been doubling. When I had scan at 6w3d my hcg was 2610 and then we could see heartbeat and embyro. I ovulate CD22-27 so always calculate gestation from ovulation date plus 2 weeks. Otherwise, I would have been estimating about 11 days ahead based on last menstrual period. My EPU won't see me until 8 weeks past last menstrual period as said they won't really see anything earlier than that so we end up getting a first early scan just after 6w2d.

when I had my son 8 years ago my cycles were 32 days and I ovulated around day 18. But now my cycles are usually 27-29 days.

im praying they double by Monday.

Just working it out and last Saturday the 31st jan the clear blue changed to 2-3 which would mean the hcg would have been 153 minimum. A week down the line it’s only 577 so I think it’s prob in decline as doubling every 2-3 days it should be over a 1000 now

Anyone with positive stories to share? I’m pretty resigned to the fact this will be a
loss when I get the results from tomorrows bloods but trying to keep a tiny bit of hope
