Bleeding at 14+ 5

Hi all,

Wondering if anyone else has bled and been okay?

Started last night, more than spotting but no gushing... sorry TMI. Having to wear a pad, but no clots/pain etc.

Can't get in with Doctor until Monday so we booked a private scan today and baby looked fine, with no clear source of where the bleeding was coming from. Seemed to fizzle off late morning and become brown smears when wiping. Have had a nap and it's back, very red.

Feeling like this could be 'the start of the end' but trying to remain positive!

Any shared experiences - good or bad - would be great!

It’s always scary to see blood in pregnancy, bless you. Did you happen to have intercourse recently? I believe this can cause irritation sometimes. I would ring the pregnancy unit as they may offer you a scan, just for reassurance.

Thanks. Nope, nothing to bring it on which I'm not sure helps with the reassurance 😖 The earliest they can scan is Monday so I'm planning to rest up for the weekend and see what is happening then ❤️

My sister had bleeding a few times in her pregnancy and baby was fine. It’s such a worrying time though, but reassuring you have a scan scheduled. I’m 13+ weeks and had some early scans due to previous miscarriages. They noticed an area of blood around the sack, they mentioned this was probably implantation bleeding and I would potentially have spotting at some point or it would be reabsorbed into the body. Just had a recent scan and it’s disappeared and I’ve had no spotting. Hopefully it’s something minor lovely, fingers crossed for you xx

I had bleeds at 5,6 and 15 weeks I am 24 weeks with a wiggling little girl

@Shelley1109 how have you been? I'm going through the same. I'm 13 weeks and 2 days. I rung EPU yesterday and they got me straight in. Had a scan and baby was fine, no understanding to where the bleed was coming from. So the bleed started Sunday morning at 4am and then quickly went brown. And the red bleed returned again this morning at 6am and it looks like it's going brown. Even though I had a scan yesterday I am still petrified.

That's fab that they saw you so quickly! Puts your mind at rest!

Well I've had sporadic bleeding over the weekend with no sign since yesterday lunchtime, still no pain and things seem okay.

My EPU appointment is today at 2.45 so hoping it's all fine again and just one of those things!

Very unsettling isn't it?! This is number 4 for me and I had nothing with the others so very odd! Private sonographer on Friday thought another boy too so that'll be 4 boys! Hubby was a little disappointed 🙈

And as I have just written that, been to the toilet and more brown blood again (old).

I'd say sporadic and not constant with no pain is a good sign but it's so nerve wracking isn't it!

With DS I had a huge gush of bright red blood at 15 weeks, rushed into A&E, he was fine and turns out I had slight placenta detachment! He turns 1 this week :)

@Shelley1109 please let me know how you get on today. Its an awful experience, I've been sent home from work to rest as my head isn't in it. Plus feeling very emotional. Got my fingers and toes that baby is ok.
I've just gone to toilet too and my blood is now brown still no pain.

That's a really good sign it's brown and no pain. The amount I lost Friday I was certain it couldn't be good news but baby was fine then. I didn't lose any clots etc either so all good things I hope.

I'll come back later after my scan and update. Rest up, plenty of time for work, look after you and baby ❤️

Scan showed baby's heart beating away just fine. Doctor couldn't find a cause for bleeding and just put it down to 'one of these things'. Fingers crossed there is no more.

How you holding up?

I'm doing OK, just anxious and scared. I'm hoping there is no further bleeding now.

It sounds very similar to mine. It's good signs that it isn't constant, no pain etc.

Let's hope these little nuggets just behave and give us a break for a little bit!

I'm still bleeding on and off. Bled this morning at my first wipe and then a bit more half an hour ago. It quickly turns brown. I am absolutely petrified. Even though I saw my baby Sunday, I am still worried.

Mine hasn't returned thankfully. I think it's good that yours sounds sporadic and not materialising into anything but it's so worrying isn't it.

Maybe another call to EPU and see if they'll scan again. If not, maybe private? Lots round by me around the £60/70 mark.

The only thing they could think of for me was because I have a bicornuate uterus (almost split into two sides) and they thought it could be the other side but that was purely speculation and they couldn't locate it.

I didn't have it with my other little ones so not normal for me.

Sometimes I think maybe it's just a bad omen for the pregnancy but I'm trying to stay positive!

Let me know if you decide to speak to EPU again and what they say!

Are you resting up as much as possible? Not sure if it'll help but definitely better than continuing with manic life!

Epu said on Sunday they wouldn't entertain another scan unless I bleed over a week. Private scan is something I am thinking about. I've messaged My midwife several times today but no reply. I am so glad your has stopped. Only thing I can think of, when I had an early scan they found a SCH but on my 12 week scan it wasn't seen and not the other day. Wonder if it's hiding behind the sac but still there and that is causing the bleeding?
Still not in any pain, and the fact it's turning brown instantly must be a good sign?
I wish I had my own scanning machine at home.

If it was there at 12 weeks then that could well be a reasonable explanation!

The fact it doesn't develop and goes brown is good, with no pain, no clots - hopefully it stops soon!

Mine was the same, would turn brown then I'd start again etc for 4 days. How long has this been happening for you now?

Private scan definitely put my mind at rest so was worth every Penny xx

@Shelley1109 it started Sunday morning so 5 days now. It's not longer as heavy as its been but I feel I'm spotting more. But not much. I spotted at 6am this morning and not had anything since - just brown.

I had a very large bleed at around 7 weeks from a subchorionic hematoma (I'm talking huge gushes of red). Bleeding tailed off after a couple days but had spotting everyday up until about 13 weeks I think which apparently was it just healing up. It didn't affect the baby but was very scary! Sending all the good thoughts your way. X

Sounds so similar to mine. Seemed to get less each time for me too. Keeping my fingers crossed for you!

@HPsauce01 thank you! I am really hoping it is that. I did have one at my 6 week scan and was still there on my 9 week scan. But said they couldn't see it on my 12 week scan.

@Shelley1109 booked in for a private scan tomorrow at 11.30am. I need go know if baby is ok. My bleed today has pretty much been dark brown spotting.

I completely get it - let us know how you get on but I'm sure everything will be fine 🤞

@Shelley1109 little baby is fine!!!! 😁😁 and spotting is definitely reducing. Cervix is closed from what she could see on the scan and advised me to get an internal scan if possible. She said if no joy I can go back and see her next week. She noticed small area of blood near my bladder but wasn't concerned.
