16+5 pregnant and awful stomach cramps

I am 17 weeks pregnant on Sunday,
since last night I have had real bad stomach pains almost like menstrual cramps, however this morning (5am) it’s woken me up pretty constant and won’t seem to shift.. (no bleeding or fluid leakage)
this is my third pregnancy however I can’t recall feeling this way before. Has anytime else experienced something like this?
thank you x

It could be the makings of a stomach bug, there's so much going around at the moment. I would call the midwife in the morning though for some reassurance. Try a hot water bottle for some relief, I hope you're ok.

Sorry to hear this, would it reassure you to go in and get a scan/talk to a midwife?
Could it be indigestion, worth taking an anti-flatulent or similar? Hope all is ok in the end!

I’m not really sure, I also have coeliac disease so maybe it’s something that I’ve eaten… I’ve just made a cup of tea and hot water bottle so I’ll see how it goes, if nothing changes I can always give the midwife a call in the morning, I had my routine midwife check yesterday and heartbeat was really strong so hopefully it is nothing to worry about 😊 thank you for your reply!

Still so painful so think I might give them a call to at least put my mind at rest @MaverickSnoopy

Hi @TanyaDue180623 ! I'm nearly 18 weeks pregnant and had menstrual cramping at the start of this week for 2 days. I had done loads the day it started so I put it down to doing too much that day and/or maybe the baby was starting to move up from my pelvis?
Always ring your midwife if in doubt and it's really severe though xx

MaverickSnoopy · 06/01/2023 11:20

I have gastro issues (1 year+) and if I eat even the slightest wrong thing I'm in a terrible state so it could be related to coeliacs if you might have eaten something wrong, or possibly even being pregnant has just irritated you somehow. I hope you're feeling a bit better and/or have called the midwife?

TanyaDue180623 · 06/01/2023 14:51

@MaverickSnoopy - I rang and they said it could be pains due to growing, however if it persists then to pop in for some monitoring.. it has eased slightly so fingers crossed that’s what it will be! Thank you so much for your replies, it really helps.

Obviously with the caveat I'm no medic but - I'm 16+4 and I've had really bad pains all over abdomen over past fortnight and it never occured to me they could be digestive until I rang a midwife in tears and she advised me to treat it as though it were. Rennies/Gaviscon/cutting bread out have massively helped. I think being pregnant can really inflame any issues with gut that were already there. Hope you continue to feel better!

AgenceGrateau · 06/01/2023 15:11

See your midwife if you're worried, I had this and it was round ligament pain, everything stretching and growing is surprisingly painful!

TanyaDue180623 · 06/01/2023 17:18

Oh thank you @ladydorito - I follow a strict gluten free diet however I will make
sure to be extra careful with what I am eating whilst pregnant.
congratulations on your pregnancy!!! June babies for us 💕💙

I’ve also had this - coming up to 19 weeks now and still have the odd bad day - I think combination of growing pains and digestive issues. I think when your bowel is being moved by growing baby, everything feels so different in there so it’s really hard to distinguish where the discomfort is coming from!
