Hi all,

I went on holiday last week (long haul, in case it’s relevant). We did quite a lot of walking on the holiday, far more than usual as I’ve been quite ill in the pregnancy. Before we returned home I got a pain in my left hip/top of my leg/lower back area that radiates down my leg, it hurts to walk and I’m hobbling walking, hurts to change positions etc. It’s been 5 days since, and the pain hasn’t gone in fact I feel like it’s spreading across my pelvic bone, sometimes my legs feel a bit numb. I’ve contacted midwife but not got a response. I’m never really sure in pregnancy what’s normal and what I should contact healthcare professionals for. Any ideas if this is normal?

Thanks

Maybe it’s spd since you mentioned hip/pelvic area?

Im 22weeks and I don’t have exactly the same, but this week my lower leg went numb in bed after a day of walking. It’s slowly getting better. Also I’ve had back ache which I think is due to my posture but I’m not certain. I tend to have it in certain positions and when sitting at a computer chair, but that’s just started this week too.

Hopefully your midwife will get back to you. If they don’t do you have a gp you could contact? They might be able to offer advice.

Hello!

Maybe you have SPD? I’m 24 weeks now but from 20 weeks i had horrible pain in my right side low down on my bump into my pubic bone area and then it started to spread into the top of my leg and across the bottom of my belly.

I went to MAU 2 weeks ago because id hobble when getting up, sitting for too long hurts and walking also hurts.. They told me to go get checked and i was diagnosed with SPD and referred to a physio.

My pain hasn’t got any easier but ive been told some stuff to do to help, such as getting in and out of the car with legs together and the same with bed, walking slowly and using lifts when possible, if I have to take stairs putting two feet on one step etc..
If you are worried contact your maternity assessment unit if you have one 🙂

Sounds like SPD, I had it when I was pregnant with my DS, it’s so horrible :( you can do some gentle yoga stretches (cat/cow and child’s pose) to help ease it and can also look into a belt. It will go as soon as baby is born but I do sympathise with you x
